Kyu gave a subtle, nervous chuckle as he looked at the clock on the far right wall. “We’re never going to get out of here at this rate… Guys? While this catch up is fun, we do need to get moving as Sky Fortress Camelot is on the move and it will be out of range soon.”

That seemed to raise some concern in Will as a foreboding feeling he could not shake crept in. “Something’s got Aalders that up in arms?” Kyu nodded, with Will accepting with his own nod. “Alright, we’ll make this quick then. Trevor, this is Mads, my new void patron, and this is Blood-Wraith. Guys, this is Trevor, arguably the true owner of the house.”

Trevor was just as nervous as Orion was around Mads, but he did not sense any ill will from him… just a bunch of snake scales for some reason. “Nice to meet both of you–welcome to our home, you’re welcome around here any time,” he said as he shook their hands. Feeling their awesome essence was certainly something else for the ghost boy, as his history as a farm hand and studious schoolgoer paled in comparison.

“Nice to meet you too, kid,” Mads replied.

“Same here,” Blood-Wraith added. “We’ll have a ghost joining the guild soon. Toravld Alfson I believe his name was.”

Mads nodded as he stroked his chin. “Ah, so that’s what happened to him…”

“Righty-o, good show!” Trevor remarked. “Kyu, I was just about to come and remind you guys about ACF-008 and that whole deal…”

Will inhaled and looked at Sam, who shared his worried sentiment. “Is that the other thing Adrien…?”

“I think so…” Morrigan said with an uneasy nod.

Kyu flipped open his communicator, which was flashing a caution sign on the screen. “Shoot, alright, enough talk, we need to get over to the Witchaven airport now…”

“No need, Kyu, as I have my handy-dandy void magic and…” Will started to say with a proud eagerness, like he was about to show off.

Kyu cut him off with a raised hand. “Beckenbauer is already at the airport with a VTOL all fueled up and ready to go.”

Mads gave a slightly dismissive nod and shrugged. “Well, I mean, Will could get you guys to Camelot with ease…”

“With ease–with the greatest of ease!” Blood-Wraith snuck in, warranting some chuckles. It was clear that it was a playful nod to the power of void magic.

“No, that won’t be necessary,” Kyu interjected. “Besides, what if Will messes up and drops us in the air?”

Will groaned, feeling like he was not being given enough credit as he tugged on the stretchy, tight collar of his bodysuit. “Can I at least take us to Witchaven?”

Kyu was about to object given the uncertainty of this new found magic, and his feelers twitched with anxiety, but this faded into an accepting nod. “Um, alright… And if that’s the case, go change into your uniform real quickly. That suit’s cool, but you’re on duty, Private.”

Will laughed, as he knew Kyu was below him in rank. “Sure thing, Private No°9,” he teased as he started heading back up the stairs.

“Aw, but I like how much the suit hugs his body…” Morrigan muttered.

“He does look pretty snazzy in it,” Antonio agreed. “Where do I get one of those?” he inquired with a laugh.

“The suit’s polymateria and it was passed down to him from the former ULTRAMagic Shadow… I mean, before him–he switched his alias,” Blood-Wraith pointed out. He then stretched his arms and back and yawned a little. “Well I’m going to head back to the guild. Eloise probably still has stuff to discuss. I’ll bring Will back again if need be.”

“Thanks–see you later, Blood,” Morrigan said as he left through his void door, the metal slab vanishing into thin air.

“And I’ll hop on over to Camelot,” Mads stated. “See you guys there.” He vanished into thin air too, but the cloud of red smoke he left behind made an odd hissing noise, like that of a serpent.

Trevor nodded in contemplation, amazed by what he had just witnessed. “In all my years of living here, I never thought I’d see such a sight… just wait until mom and dad hear about this one.”

As they waited for Will to finish up, Orion had a thought as he rocked on the cushion, holding his legs up to his chin. “Hey, mom, can I come along to Camelot?”

    She hesitated… “Um…”

“I’m going to say no on this one, son,” Will said as he reentered the room once more, adjusting his white and blue Liger Brigade uniform. It was always fantastic to see him in uniform and all ready to go.

“Agreed,” Kyu put in. “Where we're going is no place for civilians…” Orion briefly turned into an incomprehensible shape of light and colors to remind them who he was, but Kyu held firm. “Plus we don’t really know what ACF-008 is at the moment, nor what he can do outside of what’s already been documented, and that stuff’s classified.”

The boy appeared to surrender right then and there as he slouched on the couch. “I’m just worried about mom and dad…”

“Don’t worry, kiddo, we’ll be fine,” Will said as he and Morrigan began to exit through the front door. “What’s the worst that could happen?”

Morrigan stopped him right there as he began to descend the steps with her hand on his shoulder. “Boyo, I said the same thing about Gore Bloodblade and look where we ended up…” That had to have been the most deadpan Morrigan had ever been with him.

There was an awkward silence, so Kyu hurried the two out. “Let’s keep it moving, guys. We’ve got more time now, but let’s not push it.”

“You know what, Orion?” Will called out. “Come visit us if you get too worried–just make sure you go through visitor protocols first!”

Orion sighed as Will summoned his void door and guided the other two through it. “Oh alright…”

Antonio could see the disappointment and worry written on his face and went to sit next to him. “It’s just how it is, little buddy. We had the same worries back when Will was on his own with his stuff.”

“Yeah, but he just got back…”

“Well given all the power I can sense inside of him, I cannot imagine anything really posing a threat to him… did he always have the aura of a long lost god or am I imagining that?” Trevor pointed out as he took a seat on the living room rug. “Hum… Either way, let’s play some games in the meantime.”

“Yeah, that’ll help the time fly by,” Antonio agreed as he turned on the console and got out the controllers.

The Witchaven airport was busy as it always was, with a plane taking off here and there, the sound of engines all around on the ground and in the air, and announcements were being given over the intercoms. Waiting by the black, white, and indigo VTOL on one of the helipads was Zack Beckenbauer, a somewhat stocky man with short, brown hair and a stubble. He had been the pilot for Will’s squadron in the past, and was nervously looking around, hoping the trio would show up soon. Camelot was getting further away and away as time wore on and eventually he would have to take off with or without the group. And just as he was about to do one more scan of the area, something startled him.

“Hey, Beckenbauer!” Will said as the three walked up. “Good to see you again!”

“Will?! Where the hell did you come from?!” Zack could have sworn he had not seen anything from their direction.

Kyu sighed and shook his head with a chuckle. “It’s called void magic–Will summoned a door for us to walk through straight to here.”

Zack was in a state of surprise, yet expectancy as he nodded at William with a bewildered smile. “Right… well given what was declassified in regards to The Red River City Incident for us, I’m not surprised. Geez, Will, did you really take out that many shadow constructs in one go?”

Will was not sure what to say, leading to an awkward smile on his face. That act had been lingering in his dreams, but the memory that he had saved so many children prevented it from turning into a haunting nightmare. “Well if you think that was something, you should’ve seen some of the stuff I saw in The Unlight. I even got to time travel.”

Zack laughed as he could not believe what he was hearing. “Well you’ve certainly been busy this past month!” Indicating for everyone to board the craft, he was puzzled by the dark purple-haired woman, as she felt so familiar to him. “Who are… Sam? Is that you?”

Morrigan smiled. “Yes indeedy! I’m actually a succubus named Morrigan Devilfay, but you can keep calling me ‘Sam.’”

“Well, welcome aboard, Miss Devilfay,” he said as they all entered the cabin, with him following them and engaging the mechanism to close the door. It was just one strange thing after another for him that day. “Alright, everyone buckle up and I’ll let you know when you can get out of your seats,” Zack instructed as he went to the cockpit and began his pre-flight checks.

The group had arrived at the airport with enough time to give Zack a chance to comfortably catch up to Camelot and he was sure to thank Will for his haste. After confirming with the airport officials everything was ready, the VTOL’s turbines whirred as fast as they could, gently lifting the craft off the ground and into the air. They were quite loud, but thankfully the interior had noise dampening insulation. The ascent up to proper flying height was a little bumpy, but the rest of the flight was smooth sailing after that. Once Zack gave the all clear, Morrigan got up to go look around the LED-lit cabin. Her steps were a little wobbly, but she was able to get a good look at the squad’s supplies, some weapons that were on standby for emergencies, mounts for heavy artillery, and even some of Will’s Liger Brigade supplies. The name ‘Mean Machine’ could be seen emblazoned on the walls, and she knew who probably recommended that name.

“Boyo, did you name… Boyo? Are you okay?” Morrigan asked as she could see that Will looked a little nervous in his seat.

“Yeah, yeah… I picked the name based on the N.Gen soundtrack and…” Will then groaned as they hit a little turbulence.

“He’s a little skittish about flying,” Zack commented as he turned on the autopilot and swiveled his chair. “When it's an emergency he locks in, but otherwise he usually needs a movie to distract him.”

Kyu nodded in confirmation to Morrigan. “Yeah, Antares and Adrien told me all about it.”

Will groaned again, turning into a pleading chuckle. “Are we there yet?”

Zack shook his head. “Come on, Will–you just told us you’ve been to that weird Unlight place. Besides, you know this bad boy is one of the best in the fleet…” as if to thwart Zack’s reassurance, the alarms went off.

“That’s not good, is it?” Morrigan concluded.

“No no, just a proximity alert and…” Zack started to say as he checked what was wrong. “WHOA!” he exclaimed as he swerved the VTOL to a hard left, causing the cabin to violently jolt to one side. “WHAT THE HELL?” Zack quickly looked out the windows to see a high-tech, black and indigo, futuristic jet fly off. Fumbling for the mic to his radio, Zack barked “WATCH IT, WARBIRD!” into it, then turned to check on the others. “Is everyone okay back there?”

“Yeah, we’re good,” Morrigan said as she floated in mid air before gently falling to the floor. “Thank God for my star magic.” She then went to Will, who was calming down from the adrenaline rush.

“What’s the warbird doing out and about?” Kyu questioned. “Is there an emergency? Test flights?”

“It must be a joy ride…” Will deduced as he shakkily stepped over to the cockpit.

“Warbird?” Morrigan questioned. “What’s a Warbird?”

“The SR-73 Warbird, one of the Brigade’s best jets,” Will started to explain. “It’s pilot is a little… Well, erm, he’s classified, but I’ll introduce you if we run into him.”

That was bizarre to hear, but Morrigan knew she was going to be hearing more of that as time went on. “So you and Kyu know him, I take it?”

    “Absolutely… Kyu?”

“Yeah, I’ve met him…” he groaned. Will silently chuckled given his experiences with the Warbird pilot in the past.

Zack squinted out the windshield, seeing something in the distance. Before they knew it, Camelot was in sight. Its colossal jet engines held the great barque-like, aerial battleship of unbelievable proportions aloft, and bright indigo stripes adorned its silver hull. Aircraft could be faintly seen flying in and out of it and the entire fortress was a truly majestic sight to behold, its engineering and form being second to none as it sailed amongst the clouds. “Well there you go, Will, haha. Alright, everyone strap in as we’re going to land in Hangar 2B soon…”

“Finally…” Will said as he got back into his seat. “Sam, Welcome to Sky Fortress Camelot.”
