This manipulation comes in the form of the eight types of magic (six official, two unofficial). Mages typically have the ability to learn two techniques – One is their Aptitude (their “natural talent”) and the other is their Specialty (The technique they are most likely to learn). Some mages are fortunate enough and able to have three techniques. A rare few can have four magic techniques if they have an aberrant ability that is not their aptitude.
