Ironfire Station was fairly calm despite all of the excitement over at the guild. As Valentina made her way inside, she noticed that Radovan was already there, saying hello to whoever he crossed paths with and generally heading in the direction she was heading. “Good day to you, Radovan,” she called out.

“Valentina, greetings. Here for ULTRAMagic Shadow I trust?”

“Yeah. I figured I’d head over here just in case he needs any help.”

Radovan then noticed the Ertheval Express pulling into platform 4. “Well surely he has been to The Iron City in the future…”

Stepping out of the first passenger car was a man with messy, brown hair and a backpack. His attire was strange, as it was a black and white bodysuit with boots going up to his thighs and what looked like a jacket with incredibly puffy sleeves. With sections that changed colors in tune with the colors of the rainbow, the vaguely cyberpunk, organic-looking suit did not feel like his. Given that it appeared to be feminine trying to be masculine, it seemed to be passed on to him.

“Alright, let’s see…” he said as he got out a map.

“ULTRAMagic Shadow?” Radovan said as he and Valentina approached.

“Oh, hey Ra-I mean, your grace,” the man replied with an informal bow. “You can call me ‘Will.’”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Will,” Radovan replied as he shook his hand. “The guild is expecting you and I have been asked to escort you there.”

Will then put away his map and made sure his backpack was secure. “Thanks. Saves me the walk, haha.” He then noticed the woman beside him. “Oh hey, Val! Antonio said you’d be here, but I didn’t think I’d run into you.”

“Antonio?” Radovan wondered. “Gabriella has a brother?”

Valentina took a second to think about it. “Oh, I understand who he’s talking about. Sorry, Will, but I haven’t had him yet.”

Will’s face went a bit red in regret for a second as a purple orb of light flew over to him and started buzzing around his head. “WILL! Be careful what you say in the past! You read the time travel guide, right?”

“It’s alright, dears,” Valentina said with a chuckle. “I’ve foreseen Antonio’s birth… A solution to his rebellious phase still escapes me though…”

“Oh, well that’s not good,” Radovan sympathized. “Who is this, Will?”

“This is Yale, a dire fairy Milan Proch sent back with me to help me out. I may be a hero of Red River City, but time travel is a bit of a new one for me…”

Yale then turned into a youthful man with wild, purple hair, standing at the size of an unfurled hand. “A pleasure to meet you, your grace, Valentina. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure he behaves himself.”

“Really, Yale? You’re not my commanding officer, you know…” Will was cut off by Yale going and tugging on his ear. “Ow ow, hey hey hey!”

“Sorry, Will, but I’ve been deputized. Antares and Marcus warned me that he can be a loose cannon.” This made Radovan and Valentina laugh.

“Well since we have everything settled here, shall we get moving?” Radovan put forth.

“I’ll go ahead and check on Blood,” Valentina replied. “Make sure things are going well on his end. You know how he’s been as of late…” she then snapped her fingers and vanished in a flurry of feathers.

    “Most certainly…” Radovan mildly lamented.

As Will followed Radovan out of the train station, he noticed The Singing Storm Tower floating in the sky. “Huh, so that’s what it looked like back then,” he said to himself.

Back at the guild hall, Blood-Wraith was waiting somewhat patiently with the rest of the guild for the arrival of the Future Squad. He was eager with anticipation, with any sound he did not recognize making him think it was a member of the squad approaching. “Oh boy oh boy…”

    “Still nervous, Blood?” Cronus asked.

    “Yup…”

“Don’t be,” Barry said as he patted Blood-Wraith on the back, giving off a quiet hum of electricity. “It’s not like we’re about to go off hunting a foul, inteloping dragon that Leif tasked me with dealing with back in the Epoch…”

Blood-Wraith stared at him for a second with a look of concern. “We need to talk later. You’re starting to worry me, Barry…” The two were then startled by a crack of thunder in the distance.

“Guildmate dead ahead, haha!” Johnathan declared as he put away his spyglass.

The thunder and lightning got closer and louder until finally a bolt struck the ground before the guild. In its wake with the sound of glass cutting the air was a man in a white, glass-like bodysuit with blue stripes and accents. The guild members clapped as he snapped his fingers, dispelling his helmet that had a wolf motif. The man was quite handsome with olive skin, silver hair, and rich, brown eyes. He could not help but smile upon seeing the small, humble guild of the past.

“Guten morgen, everyone,” the man said in a German accent. “I am Ludwig Leichenberg, or ULTRAMagic Lance.”

“Welcome, Ludwig,” Tiberius said as he shook his hand. “We are glad to have you here. Where’s Richter and Shadow?”

    “Running late, I’d argue…”

As Ludwig said that, a massive flock of what seemed to be bats descended from the sky. They vanished into smoke as it reached the ground, revealing a man in a sleek, black bodysuit. The suit was segmented and had two stripes on each shoulder that glowed in the colors of the rainbow, a trait shared by what appeared to be a belt-like stripe around his waist. With reddish-brown hair and red eyes, the man’s skin was odd as it looked like pale skin that had tanned a little. If one did not know any better, they could have mistaken him for a vampire trying to hide its true nature.

“No fake accent this time, Dracul,” Luwdig chided before the man could speak.

“Ah-you’re no fun, Ludwig…” The man’s voice was notably slavic, with a slight hint of Romanian.

“An accent, Ludwig?” Tiberius inquired. “What accent?”

“Oh just some bothersome Celtic accent from the Scottish isles he adopted when he first joined the guild for some reason…”

“ANYWAYS,” the man interrupted. “If Fido here would let me talk, I’m Rostislav Dracul, or ULTRAMagic Richter.”

“Hold up, another Dracul!?” Desislav cut in. “Hey, do you happen to know Vlastimir?”

Rostislav seemed confused by that question, as the name was weirdly familiar to him. “Vlasti… oh, him! Um, sorry, different timeline and whatnot. Plus he’s kind of in and out and hangs out with Will a lot… speak of the devil, where is he?” he asked as he looked around.

“Don’t worry, everyone, he’s on his way,” Valentina answered as she appeared beside Blood-Wraith and Vexation.

As if on cue, Radovan’s Hornet came rolling up to the gates of the guild. Will got out, thanked his grace for the help, and headed down the path to the rest of the guild with the purple orb of light following him. “Hey, everybody, sorry I’m late.” He was a bit nervous, but seeing Ludwig and Rostislav already there made him feel better.

“There he is!” Rostislav said as he went over and put his arm around Will’s shoulders. “Jeez, buddy, we were worried you had gotten lost. Everyone, this is Will, or ULTRAMagic Shadow.”

“Nice to meet you all. And the dire fairy here is Yale. Milan sent him with me just in case.”

    “It’s a pleasure,” Yale added.

“Very good, very good indeed,” Tiberius said as he shook Will and Rostislav’s hands. “Obviously you three know why you’re here, so would you like the floor, Ludwig?”

“Thank you, Tiberius,” he replied. “Now I will admit that I am a little unsure as to why we were called upon given that it’s just Valerie we’re talking about, but we’ll happily lend a hand. Now I’d imagine you would all like to hear our qualifications. I was the leader of the Delta-7 squadron, a special ops unit of mages for the Proch Magic Research and Defense Organization, or the PMRDO…”

“Hold the phone,” Weaver cut in. “Proch? Proch’s magic organization?” He knew the others knew what he was getting at.

“I am aware of the elephant in the room, Weaver…”

“Oh, honey?” Gabriella interjected. “Remember that timeline Fyodor told Sten about?”

“Right…” Weaver recalled. “Have you guys been visited by Fyodor Aleksandrov, a void caller who focuses on pyromancy?”

Rostislav nodded. “Yup, heard of him. Now as for my qualifications, I was on Fido’s team when we…”

“WOULD YOU STOP CALLING ME THAT?” Ludwig barked at him, causing some of the others to quietly laugh.

“HAHA, then stop getting worked up over it!” Will also chuckled as Rostislav continued. “Ludwig here is a bit of a stiff, but he gets the job done.”

“As for me,” Will jumped in. “I’m Private William Ford of The Liger Brigade, First Class… Well actually I’m in line for a promotion, I just need to head back to Earth to receive it, hehe.” Some of the others chuckled, as Will was radiating positivity. “You got a problem with those Eternal Order morons? Just call me and I’ll fix the whole dang issue…”

Rostislav pulled him down and gave him a noogie. “Alright, Private, let’s not get too big for our britches now.” Will laughed in response. While sounding a bit overconfident, his enthusiasm was certainly endearing.

Blood-Wraith then realized something familiar about Will and approached him. “Zasiel? Is that you?”

“Erm, I mean, I’ve been called that…” Will answered.

“Gabriella, come take a look,” Blood-Wraith said as he gestured for her to come over.

“Let’s see…” she said as she studied him. “Oh my goodness, it is him! Zas, do you not recognize us?”

Will felt bad as he shook his head. “Sorry, Gabriella, but not at the moment.”

“Aw man…” Blood-Wraith conceded. “Well, Will, Zas is having a bit of a rough time at the moment with his work, so here’s a hug to make you feel better…”

Will accepted, feeling as if a forgotten strife had been alleviated. “Thanks, Blood. Hey, you have ULTRAMagic, right?”

    “Of course I do. Why?”

“Well pardon my saying, but it’s just that in the future you have…”

The rest of the Future Squad nearly had a heart attack with Ludwig putting his hand over Will’s mouth before he could say anything else. “Will, please step into my office for a second…” he said as he dragged him over to a tree that was a safe distance away from the group.

“Pardon us for a moment, guys,” Yale said as he zipped off after the two.

There was a brief silence, broken by Deimos. “That was… interesting,” he remarked. “I wonder what he was going to say…”

“Guys, where’s Will!?” Ultimatum asked as he appeared from a turquoise portal. He looked incredibly concerned. Tiberius and Deimos pointed towards the tree, with Ultimatum rushing over to it.

“That was a little awkward,” Aureolus commented. “No ‘hello’ or ‘what’s up’? So, Blood, you said you wanted to see Zasiel again?”

“Yeah, but this is going to make playing ACR a bit awkward…”

Tiberius sighed with a slight groan. “Sometimes I wish I was back in the Epoch…” Alexia put her hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

“Um, anyways,” Rostislav started to say, wanting to change subjects. “I’ve been mentoring Will as he’s fairly new to the guild. I’ve been told about what he’s been up to prior to joining. Apparently he’s a special agent in that Liger Brigade of his, color me impressed.”

“Intriguing,” Vexation noted as he stroked his chin. “Jeez, Schwarzes, a bit green don’t you think?” he half-muttered to himself.

“I’m sure it will be fine, dear,” Drusa reassured him. “Hey, Rostislav? Am I still hanging around the guild in your time?”

“Um, yeah, Drusa. In fact you’ve been at the guild a lot given one of your own from my universe recently showed up in The Unlight…”

    “Ooh, fascinating!”

Cronus chuckled a little. “Are you sure you want to say that, given what Will nearly revealed?”

“Well we were given a list of things we can and cannot discuss. I think that was on the ‘can’ list… so yeah, Will’s a great guy. Me and him could solve this whole issue ourselves if we set our minds to it.”

“So what magic do you guys use?” Dragoslava inquired as she got out a notepad and pen.

“Oh well I have volcano and earthquake-based spells, as I prefer explosive results, if you catch my meaning… I mean, not as drastic as Teunis’ explosion magic, but you get me. Will’s a necromancer with some alchemy on the side, with his true strength coming from his devils, Faustus and Mira. They’re quite the team and I am a little jealous, not going to lie.”

“Is there anything stopping you from learning it now, Rostislav?” Brandr wondered. “I’m sure you could easily find a lava devil or earth devil in your Inferno.”

Rostislav paused and nodded. “You know what? I’ll look into it when I get back. Now as for Captain Needs-his-belly-scratched, he uses lightning and glass magic…”

“That’s Captain Leichenberg to you, Dracul,” he said as he hit him on the head.

“Ow… but yeah, watch out when he gets really going and all charged up.”

“Nice!” Barry complimented with an enthusiastic hum of electricity.

Tiberius then noticed Ultimatum, who walked up with Will and Yale. “I trust that everything is all squared away, Schwarzes?”

“Absolutely, Tiberius. We just had to go over a few things with Will, nothing too important.” Some of the others could tell that was not the case.

“So can we head in?” Will asked. “I’d love to see the guild hall of the past given how big it was in my time.”

“Of course, Will,” Tiberius replied. “Let’s finish the introductions inside and discuss how we’ll handle Valerie from there.”

As they all started to head in, they heard someone calling out to them. “Hey! Hold on, guys!”

“Tusk, there you are,” Tiberius pointed out as the Tree-man stopped to catch his breath. “Goodness, you make Blood look punctual by comparison.” This made Blood-Wraith groan.

“Sorry about that, Auda was asking me questions and then Donia joined in. Oh, Blood, Auda needs help with a school project when you get the chance.”

“Oh, is it…” Blood-Wraith began to remember. “SHOOT, I was supposed to help out with the big chemistry project, but my semester ended….”

“Don’t worry, kiddo. Professor Greenstone is willing to let Auda slide with outside help for her project. Oh hey, the Future Squad, nice to meet you.”

“Same here, Tusk,” Ludwig replied. “We were just heading in to relax a little.”

“Ah, excellent. Let’s not wait any longer then.”

Barry then threw his arm around Will’s shoulders as they resumed heading in. “Hey, Shadow! Are we friends in the future?”

He was a little surprised. “Um, yeah, Barry. Of course we are.”

“Good, because I want to be your friend and maybe even teach you some elektromancy,” he said with an eager hum of electricity.

Will laughed. “Fine with me, Barry.”
