Jackson Woodall
Jackson Reginald Woodall is a dullahan from M.A.I.G. with quite the reputation. Despite being one of their best agents, he is somewhat infamous for being a wild card. A bit disrespectful, yet charismatic and focused, Jackson has a sterling record of getting things done. He produces results, which routinely saves him from being reprimanded on most occasions. Aside from his nature as a fae, he is also genetically modified to be superhuman. Jackson’s past with M.A.I.G. and their partner organization, GRENADIER, has made him a fairly extraordinary individual.

Who is Jackson?
Jackson is a failed clone created by GRENADIER as a part of the Last Soldier Program. He was found by accident by the Magic Anomaly Investigation Group (M.A.I.G.). after they had purchased GRENADIER’s scraps and prototypes. Upon further study, it was discovered that Jackson was a dullahan, a headless horseman originating from the British isles. There was definitely a stir between M.A.I.G. and GRENADIER after the discovery of Jackson.
Who is GRENADIER?
GRENADIER is a U.S. Government funded organization that focuses on research and defense. They operate behind the scenes and specialize in weaponry and military technology. While they are incentivized to work solely for the U.S. Government, they have lent their hands to the Liger Brigade and have assisted The League in dealing with the nefarious Death Knell coven. GRENADIER has also caught the attention of The ACF, but this is for less than ideal reasons.
As for the connection to M.A.I.G., GRENADIER was founded by the soldiers who were originally a part of G.A.I.G. (the German Anomaly Investigation Group). Their founders were the exact soldiers who went on the mission to appropriate Morana Dracul and The Wicked Dragon. Those well versed in the history of M.A.I.G. know this mission did not go according to plan. Not dissuaded by this failure, the soldiers resolved to start making weapons and technology that could protect humanity from threats such as paranormal and the supernatural.
Why was GRENADIER selling stuff?
Government organizations (G-Orgs, as The League calls them) have to file performance reports in order to secure funding. Greater performance means better pay. Grenadier had hit a rough patch and were low on funds. To mitigate this issue, they essentially hosted a garage sale. This is a fairly common place as it provides mutual benefits with other G-Orgs. GRENADIER keeps the lights on and other organizations receive potentially useful assets that can improve their reports.
GRENADIER was selling off prototypes in 1995 and Dr. Reynard Woodall (lead scientist of M.A.I.G.) just so happened to have some extra money on hand. After getting the lot back to M.A.I.G., something odd was discovered in one of the crates. There was a young boy curled up in one of them, looking to be about 5 years old. He was obviously not a random child as he looked well taken care of and was wearing GRENADIER issued clothing.
Reynard and Trumna Wintergate (current Lead Director of M.A.I.G.) found out the boy’s name was Jackson (or at least, that is what he called himself). Jackson was a little scared at first, but was happy to have gotten away from GRENADIER. Several questions arose from this: What even was Jackson? Why was he in the lot? And what were GRENADIER doing with human test subjects? Reynard quickly scheduled a meeting with the lead director of GRENADIER, Reed James Garnett.
How did M.A.I.G. react to Jackson?
Everyone was concerned right out the gate. Once Jackson was all settled in and comfy was his new home, Reynard and Trumna started asking about him and who he was. While Jackson only knew the basics, he explained that he was a part of the Last Soldier Program. Apparently they were training him to be some kind of soldier. This was enough for Reynard and Trumna to go straight to the horse's mouth.
Reed was surprised and naturally asked for Jackson back. Reynard refused, insisting that Jackson was technically a part of the sale. Knowing that Reynard was a 1920s man, Reed promptly dropped this request. Reed then had to explain what was going on, so he elaborated on how they had acquired the DNA of Askr (noteworthy for being one of the founders of the fabled Atlantis) and that they were trying to clone him. Jackson was a failed attempt at that.
Reynard was not happy about this and warned Reed that GRENADIER was playing with fire. Something else that incentivized Jackson staying with M.A.I.G. is that Trumna noticed Jackson had magic potential. They offered to take care of the boy and foster his abilities. While Reed was hesitant at first, he agreed to let M.A.I.G. do what they see fit. Given that Reed was now on thin ice with a lot of organizations, it behooved him to accept.
Raising Jackson
Jackson was a bit of a problem child who did not accept Reynard as his father at first. Reynard did have Erika Storm (lead scientist of the Liger Brigade’s U.S. branch) to help him, but Jackson was a very unique case. He did not have proper parents during his infancy and toddler years and being abnormally strong did not help either. Adding insult to injury, he turned into a dullahan at age 14. Between their duties and Jackson, Reynard and Erika had a lot on their plate.
Jackson met the ghost of a 16 year old revolutionary war soldier named Thomas O’Connor. While not the best influence, he did give Jackson someone to talk to and vent his frustrations. Thomas was the older brother Jackson needed who got him to behave and be cordial. Thomas was a soldier after all, and such behavior like Jackson’s would have landed him in big trouble with his commanding officers back in the day.
Reynard and Erika needed something productive for Jackson to do. Erika had an idea, proposing that Jackson get into weight lifting. He was all for this, as he felt he could really push himself and use his full strength. This also helped Jackson calm down. Eventually Mary Pickford entered the scene and Jackson took a liking to her. An older sister was strange to him, but he always admired how Mary always managed to stay calm and collected. She would go on to teach him how to shoot and do business (to Reynard and Erika’s slight chagrin).
Jackson inevitably found out who he was and that messed with him. On the brightside, he grew to appreciate Reynard and Erika for putting up with his nonsense. He may have been a clone with no true parents, but he took great comfort knowing that his adoptive parents truly cared about him. Despite his origin, he came to respect himself and those around him, even if he made non stop remarks about his friends and family. As to be expected, he does not view GRENADIER favorably, but will be cordial towards them (with a mix of snark and sass)
What does Jackson do at M.A.I.G.?
Jackson is a special agent that essentially runs errands for the organization. Typically the ones who ask the most are Reynard, Trumna, and Bran Lommel. Bodyguard duty is also Jackson’s forte, given his strength and magic prowess. He also goes to help other G-Orgs and League related groups from time to time. Despite being a wild card, he gets things done out of a desire to make his parents proud. It is his great track record that got Jackson work, despite his sometimes abrasive personality.
Jackson’s DNA and Abilities
Having Askr’s DNA grants Jackson great strength, fantastic agility, and enhanced endurance. While GRENADIER could not replicate Askr’s 4th dimensional nature, Jackson seems to be exceptionally perceptive to higher dimensions. Interestingly Jackson seems to have been born 3.5 dimensional because of his DNA.
Jackson is Askr in all but soul and personality. An intriguing quirk of this is that Jackson seems to remember Atlantis. He can recall aspects of their culture, who lived there, and experiences that Askr himself had. Jackson also knows about the Spiritus Magni, which led him to becoming an acolyte of Drusa. M.A.I.G. is actively studying these phantom memories and dreams of his to learn all they can about Atlantis.
As for being a dullahan, Jackson can enter the Ghost Realm and open locks just like any other. It is unclear if he can declare people dead as this is an ability that almost all human-dullahans avoid. And as to be expected, Jackson can remove his head. Magic-wise, his aptitude is soul, with his specialty being alchemy and necromancy. As for personal quirks, Jackson is coordinated, dexterous, a capable multitasker, and has quite the singing voice.

As for personal quirks, Jackson is coordinated, dexterous, a capable multitasker, and has quite the singing voice.
Jackson’s Personality
Jackson is a patriot thanks to his origin, but also a bit cynical. He knows how selfish people can be, but he does not let that rule him. The loyalty hardwired into his DNA will not let him worry. The whole world has skeletons in their closet, but he acknowledges that that’s life for you. He has a lot of thoughts in his head and his DNA compelling him to act a certain way does not help. It should be noted that there were many chances for him to kill the notorious Hector Fang, but something inside him told to bide his time. Hector’s chaotic presidency certainly tested Jackson’s resolve and morals.
Jackson has trouble sleeping sometimes and is prone to mental breakdowns. The Last Soldier directives conflict with his personality. The directives were never activated, but they still persist in his mind. No amount of counseling, therapy, or medication is capable of truly suppressing them. His vivid dreams about the fall of Atlantis do not help his sleep either. This anomaly has required help from Drusa to get him to calm down at times.
His abrasive personality comes from the fact that Jackson expects everyone to be on top of their game. This leads him to antagonizing people who he perceives as slacking off or being dishonest. If he is yanking your chain, this means he likes you and wants to see you succeed. Jackson has a weird way of expressing affection, but he means well at the end of the day. Of course if he does nothing but insult you, that could indicate that he does not like you.
Jackson is a wild card because he refuses to play by the rules. He knows he can get things done as long as he can cook the way he wants. His methods are not the tidiest, but he will get things done once he sets his mind to it. You can count on him as he is fiercely loyal to his friends and family. Despite his antics, he will always be there for them
Jackson’s Antics
Jackson is good friends with Bran Lommel and Private William Ford, but he has a tendency to yank their chains often. Will gets called weatherman due to his skittish reaction to storms, and Bran is picked on for being a male succubus. Because he is friends with Will, he often summons Stolas to make bird puns (but will also call on his expertise in astronomy and mineralogy). Jackson will even summon Antonio Pari in his demon form to make spider jokes.
Ms. Phantasm, a time phantom residing in Universe-15, will not let him into Universe-15 under normal circumstances. Jackson has caused several incidents relating to time travel and Ms. Phantasm does not trust him. Jackson has gone on record saying that he is “numero uno on Ms. Phantasm’s hit list” and no one is really sure why. Reynard and Erika have been talking to Ms. Phantasm to work this issue out.
Encouraged by Thomas, Jackson once used the Ghost Realm to go back in time to the Revolutionary War and burn down Fort Ticonderoga. This was done to spite the British. While this was allowed by the Time Watchers as it gave the colonists an advantage over the British, this put Thomas and Jackson on a watch list. This has also been cited as the event that made Ms. Phantasm distrust Jackson. The Time Watcher, Zal-Rint, needs to counsel Ms. Phantasm over this from time to time.
Reynard will often reference a timeline correction in which there was a nuclear exchange between the U.S. and the Soviets. Things were getting tense in this timeline, so Jackson went back in time to help out. Instead of averting a nuclear exchange, he accidentally activated all of the codes. This is when the Time Watchers stepped in and told Jackson he was not allowed to time travel unless supervised. There are multiple reality holes in Universe-23 that The Madman of Old needs to patch up to this day.
