Introduction
Aoife Crawford, or ULTRAMagic Devil, is a noteworthy member of The ULTRAMagic Guild tasked with mentoring and tutoring new recruits. While she is not the only mentor, she is well-known for being kind, polite, fun-loving, and a patient teacher. She is also widely regarded as one of the physically strongest members of the guild. Aoife has quite the history, being involved in battles for the sake of the Cosmos that panned out over entire iterations of Universe-23. Her story is one of a mother who lost everything to protect the ones she loved, but was rewarded in spades with the power to help fight back against the forces of evil forevermore. This story may have partially faded into the sands of time, but the ramifications of her actions are far-reaching, and may help decide the tide of the battle against those who would seek usurp The Cosmos and God himself.

Aoife meets The Destruction God
Being a darkness devil incarnated as a human, Aoife Guillaume was naturally perceptive to the unseen world around her. She always felt her origin was alongside her, proudly proclaiming she was actually a darkness devil, to the revulsion of her local church. Thankfully her mother, Ayleth, was always there to support Aoife. While she encouraged her daughter to keep her beliefs private, she also made sure she did not abandon them. Aoife did not realize it or had the insight to understand it at the time, but Ayleth was actually the reincarnation of The Hollowed of Old, a strange wandering warrior who had a closer affinity to the Primordial Darkness than most primordials. Ayleth somewhat foresaw Aoife’s future and was subtly pushing her in the direction she needed to be.
Aoife would start her adult work life as a waitress at a local restaurant that paid fairly well. She would even meet her future husband, Arthur Crawford, here. Things were relatively fine and normal, despite the prevalence of magic, but Aoife felt that something was missing. The fact that she had aura magic potential certainly contributed to that. One day while she was cleaning the tables at the restaurant, a woman with a terrifying and awesome presence only a select few could detect came in for a bite and Aoife served her. What Aoife saw was an incomprehensible god that must have been a hermetic god, but the woman felt vastly more ancient than that. Given that the woman could sense that Aoife could properly perceive her, she revealed herself as The Destruction God, and offered to help Aoife foster her magic potential. Aoife was on the fence given that she would have to potentially quit her job at the restaurant, but The Destruction God also revealed that she had a way of allowing Aoife to train while retaining her normal life.
What The Destruction God had the power to do was bring her students to a fractal dimension where she could train them without taking away from their daily lives. It was also ideal given that only she and the people she trusted knew where it was. The 3.33 Dimension was the location of this training ground, and it resembled a version of Earth, having its own people and entities. Here The Destruction God trained what was called “The Astral Nuns,” a fellowship of magic practitioners and martial artists who studied the ways of the universe and Epoch of the Cosmos. Naturally there was also “The Astral Monks,” the male counterpart to the nuns who studied similar topics and disciplines. Through these lessons Aoife would gain great power and mastery over her aura magic, and would become good friends with The Destruction God.
Over the course of her training Aoife was unknowingly gaining ULTRAMagic through the bonds she had formed, and one day she just woke up being able to understand and learn whatever type of magic she chose. It was incredible, and Aoife felt like she needed to do something even grander with her life – The Destruction God had just the guild in mine, and would tell her of a mysterious realm known as The Unlight. The fantastic ULTRAMagic Guild could help Aoife and then some. Ayleth was on the fence about this, as she knew something was about to go wrong – The Destruction God was always a chaotic god, and always worried the primordials given her origins that were only known to a select few. Unfortunately Ayleth’s concern was misread by Aoife as her mother doubting her, which led to Aoife charging head-first into The Unlight.
The Epoch-Modernity ULTRAMagic Guild?
The famous ULTRAMagic Guild, home of the ULTRAMagic Mages, had existed throughout the eons of the Cosmos. It was first founded during the mid Epoch, but had troubles reforming during the Epoch-Modernity Transition phase. Sadly it never officially formed during that era, but there was a group that attempted to do so, and stuck together regardless as the de facto ULTRAMagic Guild. Bizarrely Aoife would end up in this era when attempting to enter The Unlight, which may have related to anomalies surrounding The Destruction God. Aoife was welcomed to rag-tag band of mages, which was led by the now lost/missing ULTRAMagic Revenant, ULTRAMagic Master-Skull, ULTRAMagic Bombshell, ULTRAMagic Renegade, ULTRAMagic Titan, and ULTRAMagic Conductor. Other notable members that have yet to return are ULTRAMagic Sanguine, ULTRAMagic Sleeper, and ULTRAMagic Sparks – of which sightings of Sparks have been reported by ULTRAMagic Thunder, Blacksmith, and Zenith in recent times.
Despite Aoife being from a future era, she was welcomed with open arms as ULTRAMagic Shadow. The ongoing situation was tough for Revenant and Master-Skull, as many of the members of the Epoch guild had already reincarnated into the second phase of the Cosmos and were desperately needed during the Epoch-Modernity Transition given that the villainous Eternal Order attempted many of their schemes during that era. Many of the Primordials that had allied themselves with the guild back in the Epoch were also missing and/or being hunted down by the early Descendants so they could reincarnate. Leif–The Dragon of Old attempted to help whenever he could, but was all over the place trying to deal with the chaotic Lich of Old. ULTRAMagic Bard and Sylph of the Epoch guild had promised to chip in, but went missing upon a strange temple being rumored to have been discovered in the jungles of The Unlight. There was a lack of support, lack of back up, and a lack of coherence that nearly cost The League the fight against The Eternal Order. Thankfully it never came to that, but there were too many close calls for comfort.
Aoife would adopt the alias of Shadow as nod to her nature as a darkness devil, and created a special bodysuit made of the rare polymateria – it was a little risque with exposed skin around her clavicles and abdominals (she enjoyed showing off her muscles for the latter), but also had a futuristic vibe to it with thigh-high boots, and big, poofy sleeves integrated into the suit. This suit acted like magical armor and was incredibly flexible, perfect for her style of magic. Aoife had also always been a modest hooligan – being one to be a lewd goofball, but knowing when to rein it in. With her new gear and the support of the other ULTRAMagic mages, Aoife got to work refining her magic while also picking up some alchemy, soul magic, and void magic in the process.
The de facto ULTRAMagic Guild had a lot of problems to deal with, and chief among them was The Lich of Old – a heretical primordial never truly accepted by the gods of the heavenly spheres. They clashed many times with The Lich, and for a time it seemed like they had run him off. In reality he had gone into hiding to seek out a strange power for a future plan of his and returned in an attempt to take control of The Unlight. This would be stopped by the guild with help from Sir Galvyn Akasterr of the kingdom of Feuerland. Unfortunately the conflict would secretly sow seeds of doubt in some of the members, notably Master-Skull and Bombshell. Regardless, The Lich of Old was defeated and fled into parts unknown. With the conflict seemingly settled, Aoife saw fit to head back home, and bid her guildmates farewell.
Vlad–The Lich of Old
With the The Lich of Old seemingly dealt with for the time being, Aoife would return to Earth after having spent 5 years in The Unlight (in non-linear Unlight time specifically), and would marry Arthur. The two would further start a family, having a son named William Crawford, who Aoife utterly adored (despite wanting a daughter). Things were relatively normal, despite Aoife acting like a de facto superhero for the nearby Central City. William would even learn some magic given that Aoife was a natural and Arthur knew some magic himself. Sadly the good times would not last, as The Lich of Old would return, but in a state Aoife did not recognize. The Lich was no longer a proper primordial, but rather a power-hungry mage calling himself “Vlad” who planned to create an empire on Earth-23-4 so he could join with an ally of his who had attempted to assume control of The Unlight kingdom of Shadowland and take over The Unlight, as futile as such a plot was. Normally Vlad would have been laughed off as a non-issue, but he had acquired the power of a shattered hermetic god from the Epoch and was making headway with his plans.
The Liger Brigade, The Magic Anomaly Group (M.A.I.G.), and GRENADIER (member organizations of The League) of Earth-23-4 were not prepared for the threat Vlad posed, leading to Aoife taking up the fight and greatly halting Vlad’s ambitions. She was powerful, but Vlad would not give up, and it took a great toll on Earth. Vlad inevitably planned to leave with his power and reunite with his old ally, and this could not be allowed to come to pass. Emerging from deep within the Earth were the dwarves, beings of darkness from the Epoch that had worked closely with the Aesir in the past – they had foreseen events they could not reveal and made it clear that Vlad could not be allowed to leave the universe. At first they were not sure how to stop Vlad, but then they realized they could stop his plans entirely if someone took the power of the shattered god away forever. And if by a miracle, the person they needed was just around the corner – Aoife.
Aoife was on board with the plan to steal the power until she found out that she would have to leave the current iteration of Universe-23 forever, taking her out of future iterations until such a time when Vlad had resigned his ambitions. And as the conflict wore on, she quickly realized there was no other option. The ultimate deciding factor was when her fight with Vlad came to Central City, and William was hurt in the process after getting caught in a collapsed building. Arthur was okay, but William had suffered a broken arm. Realizing she was putting her friends and family in great danger, Aoife agreed to help the dwarves. On the night before the final battle, Aoife would tuck her son into bed one last time, and wish him goodnight with a kiss on the forehead. Once he fell asleep, she said goodbye to her son and husband and flew off to the battle that would set so many events she could not even begin to comprehend in motion.
The final battle at the edge of the world was fierce and grueling, as Vlad knew something was up. Aoife struggled at first, the sorrow of her departure weighing on her… but then a voice said something to her that made her realize it was all meant to be. The voice of that shattered god apologized deeply to her and promised he would help her in the future. Aoife would then power through her despair, knowing deep down that she would see Arthur and Will again some day – and that she also needed to give this shattered god a piece of her mind. Aoife would take the power of that god with his blessing and empower herself with it, using the newfound power to leave Universe-23-4 once and for all. With the power gone, the dwarves would sacrifice themselves to create a seal that would hold Vlad in Universe-23 for at least 1 or 2 more iterations, which they deemed long enough for him to come to his senses and walk back into the light. Aoife would depart on wings of shining light, and Will would wake up the next morning with a strange gap in his memories – did he have a mother? And where was she?
Wandering The Unlight
Aoife would end up in the modern Unlight, where she was supposed to be, and cried for a long time afterwards. When her tears had finally dried, she became a quiet, despondent wanderer – hiding her identity with a cloak and hood, and making sure Universe-23 stayed safe. Aoife single-handly stopped several incursions into Universe-23 by other multiverse-traveling civilizations and entities, which would be noticed by The Multiverse Patrol (an organization dedicated to maintaining order and stability in the multiverse). The ULTRAMagic Guild of the second phase of the Cosmos would also notice Aoife’s actions, and a close ally of theirs would look into the matter. The powerful goddess known as Drusa would send her student, a fellow goddess named Octavia, to look into what was going on with the cloaked wanderer.
Octavia unfortunately became lost, no thanks to her slightly clumsy nature at times, and came to blows with a shambling beast lost to that initial conflict in Shadowland. Aoife would step in to save Octavia and grew annoyed when Octavia started following her around. Aoife wanted nothing to do with The ULTRAMagic Guild, having felt they left her high and dry during the final battle with Vlad. Octavia knew she had to bring Aoife to the guild and would not stop following her. In time Aoife found herself taking a liking to Octavia, finding a new best friend in her as the goddesses’ optimism was infectious. Aoife would eventually concede that she was not getting anywhere just wandering around, and that is when The Destruction God showed up. Aoife was a bit mad at her given that she also felt she had abandoned her, but The Destruction God made up for it by cluing Aoife into what was actually going on – this did not help Aoife’s mood, but she figured it was best to drop it. And given Aoife’s newfound power, The Destruction God would help her tame it, giving her the ability to become “The Avatar of Destruction.”
Reuniting with her son
Aoife would be brought into the middle of a crisis The ULTRAMagic Guild was facing where five of their mages had been kidnapped and held hostage. She had to set aside her grief in order to assist, and she was of great help to the guild. She even rejoined as “ULTRAMagic Devil,” feeling like it was a new era – so she needed a new self. Some time after the conflict, she had learned that Universe-23 had moved on a great deal and had progressed 4 iterations past her iteration. While she could not find the old dwarves, something inside told her that it was safe to go back… Sadly she could not just return, as Will had incarnated with new sets of parents over the iterations, which caused her even more grief knowing she could not be there for her boy. Despite her anxiety towards returning without knowing if Vlad had been truly dealt with, she had to see her son again. He would not recognize Aoife, but she did not care. She picked a moment where her son’s current parents had stepped out so she could visit undetected. Aoife entered the bedroom and found a crib containing a baby boy who was just minding his own business, doing nothing except waiting for the day to press on. Upon seeing her child again, a warm smile grew on Aoife’s face and a tear rolled down her cheek. The boy saw this woman and laughed – he had no idea who she was, but it felt like it was his mother to him. Aoife then reached in, picked up her son, and cradled him in her arms…
“Hey there, kiddo, mom's here. Sorry I had to leave for so long... sadly I still have work to do, but just know that I will always be watching over you. I’ll always be there for you even if you're all alone. Also jeez, you're so big in this timeline... wow.”
This made her boy laugh again. Unfortunately Aoife could sense the other parents returning, so she had to cut the visit short. After giving him a kiss on the forehead, she laid him back down gently in the crib and said goodbye… but not for good this time. She then vanished, returning to the Unlight. Upon returning to the ULTRAMagic Guild, the others noticed that Aoife was a little off. She remained talkative, but everyone had a feeling of what she had just gone through. In her office, she let her emotions out, spending a while crying silently. She knew her son was in for a rough time as that iteration of their universe had... unique issues. She finally took solace in the fact that her grandson, ULTRAMagic Infinity, would be also watching after him, guiding him alongside others so her son would not be up the river without a paddle. Aoife then figured she would spend some time with her grandson, as he had grown worried for her…
“Ignatius, want to hang out? Have some grandson-grandmother time?”
How strong is Aoife?
Aoife is fairly well known for her physical strength, being widely regarded as the strongest member of The ULTRAMagic Guild by human standards, and potentially stronger than the higher dimensional members. While her aura magic is a great boon to her strength, the power she stole from The Lich of Old and the training she received from The Destruction God takes her power to unbelievable heights. Universe-23 throughout its iterations has always been one of the stronger universes when it comes to the physical strength of humans and similar species. Most universes have males that are vastly stronger than females, and some have the roles reversed. As a whole humans are usually a physically weaker species, but Universe-23 is one of the unique few to have incredibly strong humans on average. They are followed by Universe-0X, 15, and 17 in terms of strength, and are notable for both genders being relatively close to each other strength-wise – widely agreed to be double the physical strength of most universes.
Aoife’s strength is second to none, and quite unexpected of her given her polite and cool demeanor. Underneath her encouraging and kind words is a true powerhouse only rivaled by the deities of Earth. The most humans have ever lifted varies from a low end to high end metric, and has not been set by a single individual. The low end record was set at 8674 lbs by Daragh Fabien Hail in 1905, the middle record was set at 10,680 lbs by Tad Lindsey Edgar in 1964, and the high end record was set at 12,540 lbs by Gero Ruprecht Ramakers in 1994. Despite all of this being relevant to Universe-23-4, these numbers have persisted throughout the iterations. Aoife has been able to reach these numbers through building her physical strength and refining and practicing her aura techniques. Back when she lived on Earth, she was often called “Iron Fists Aoife” for being able to punch and destroy the strongest of objects – she has gone on record punching a planet-killer asteroid that was heading straight for Earth into harmless fragments with help from her ULTRAMagic.
Without heavy use of her magic, Aoife has been able to reach the world-records, with her low end being around 8,500 lbs, her middle being 10,000 lbs, and her high end being 12,500 lbs. These numbers tend to vary and are never exact given that she is still prone to the limitations of the human body. She never dared to enter in weightlifting competitions on Earth as she knew all too well the controversy that could generate given the use of her magic. Plus she never wanted to be accused of abusing steroids or something along those lines – she may like to show off at times, but she is not dumb. Furthermore, she has always feared that her shows of strength would put a massive target on her back and her family for more reasons than one.
Aoife is not limited to her basic feats, as her magic can take her strength well beyond that of any mere human. Her numbers can easily reach 17,000 lbs, 20,000 lbs, and 25,000 lbs when her magic is in play. Furthermore, she can multiply these numbers exponentially by drawing on the power of the universe through her aura magic, and the power of The Destruction God through her lesser known void magic – of which her void spells used to manifest through sutra and mantra, but in recent times has been made mental and internal to help maintain focus. Aoife famously has had arm-wrestling matches with some of the most notable figures from mythologies across the world. She has wrestled with Heracles, Cú Chulainn, Balor, Sun Wukong, Gilgamesh, and even Thor. The last arm-wrestling bout she ever had was with Thor, but this was never settled as the matches always ended in a draw, and Aoife had to leave her universe to stop The Lich of Old. Little did she realize it, but then one she had arm-wrestled with was the prime Thor, and is still waiting for their final match with eager anticipation – especially now that she has the proper power of a god.
Aoife’s running speed is also quite impressive, albeit she often refrains from running at her fastest out of fear of losing control. Pulling a punch is easy, but trying to stop herself while also dealing with potential energy, kinetic energy, inertia, motion, gravity, and friction is difficult to say the least. Calder Thunder holds the record for the fastest sprint, that being 41.16 mph, but Aoife can easily match this and triple it, having reached a sprint speed of 123.48 mph – and apparently Calder had found out about this feat of Aoife’s and sought to match and exceed that through magic training, which many were surprised to find out he had the potential for. Sadly Aoife would leave Universe-23-4 before Calder had the chance to challenge her to a race, and he would hold onto this desire to surpass her well into the current iteration of Universe-23.
Given that Aoife can easily boost her skills even further with soul magic and other forms of magic she can learn thanks to her ULTRAMagic, she is truly a mighty and powerful mage – and that is not even to mention the aura techniques and spells she keeps under wraps. Regardless of what she decides to do, she is content with her strength and it has served her well throughout the eons and ages she has existed. Of course, living in the Unlight and reuniting with her Aura teacher, The Destruction God, has led to Aoife unlocking even greater power. It is probably for the best not to incur the wrath of the Avatar of Destruction. Should the threats to the Cosmos rear their ugly head, originating from beyond or not, Aoife will be ready to fight back, bravely standing her ground to protect the Cosmos and the ones she loves from the bottom of her heart.
