And with that, Scotty and Zara took that as their cue to leave and return to the Dark Void. Upon reporting back to Leif he was relieved to hear that Blood-Wraith met up with Dragoslava and was well within the safety of the city walls. As much as he wanted to take another victory lap, he had work to do now that Blood-Wraith was in place, and took off in his dragon form. Nosmirc also felt a similar wave of relief wash over him and had to take his leave too. The others were a little confused, but he assured them that it was just some minor housekeeping. In truth he was heading back to his time, as his job was finally done. After a quick hop, skip, and a jump through a special corridor of the Cosmos only he could access, he found himself at Beorhtric’s spectacular, yet modest castle, his home away from home. He then slouched with a groan that gave him a gait that betrayed all of the confidence he had as The Amazing Nosmirc, with the colossal drawbridge thundering down for him.

“Thank God it’s finally over…” he moaned as he trudged his way across the drawbridge.

“Crimson, you’re back!” A giant, four-winged gryphon with bronze feathers and golden fur exclaimed as he shrunk down to the size of a lion and hurried over to him. “Did everything go alright?”

    “We’re still here, aren’t we?”

The Gryphon God laughed, as he realized that was a bit of a dumb question. “Of course, of course. Now, we’re not going to be doing anything else reckless like that, are we?” he inquired as they passed under the portcullis, the doors closing behind them with a thud.

Crimson took his hat off, returning to his true appearance. “No, and thankfully I won’t have to, with that strange curse Blood cast… Who knew turning sides would be this difficult?”

The Gryphon God shook his head. “Crimson, I’m pretty sure both Volf and Metal told you this wouldn’t be easy in no uncertain terms…”

“Right… Are Beorhtirc and Aerona here?”

“Of course, and they’ve been worried sick about you…”

Waiting in the great hall were the noble Sir Beorhtric and his dearest wife, Aerona. They stood by the grand fireplace, nervously expecting The Crimson God to return when Aerona’s gorgeous brown eyes began to glow a ghostly white. “HE REUTRNS–THE CRIMSON GOD RETURNS TO THE FOLD!” she cried in a ghastly voice as her amber hair waved like cloth in the wind.

Beorhtirc recoiled a little, utterly startled by the outburst. Aerona was prone to mad visions, a sign that the essence of the Lost Era was still in her. “I’m still not used to that…” he muttered to himself. “Are you okay, Aerona?”

She took a breath, then straightened out her elegant dress. “Of course, Beorhtric… Oh, there he is!” Aerona pointed out as The Crimson God and The Gryphon God entered the hall.

“Hey, everyone, we’re all good to go…” he said with a sigh as he tossed his top hat onto the coat hanger. Despite his anxiety, the majesty of Beorhtric’s home was setting his mind at ease.

“Crimson, my boy, good to have you back,” Beorhtric said as he went over and brought him to the fireplace. “You’ve done a great service for the Cosmos… but also that was incredibly reckless.”

“I know, haha. Get chewed out by Ealdhelm?”

Beorhtric chuckled. “No worse than when he found out about The Future Squad.”

“Is Blood-Wraith okay?” Aerona inquired. “Learning about what he went through prior to The Unlight was harrowing to say the least…”

“He should be fine… DISREGARDING The Tyrant War–GOD, I still want to strangle Karnage!”

Beorhtric nodded, sensing the palpable anger within The Crimson God. “He may be dead, but a bumpy road is still ahead of us…”

“You’re telling me. And I cut it closer than I’d like to admit to. It didn’t help that Metal showed up at the last minute and immediately recognized me…” This startled the couple and sent their anxiety into orbit.

“Oh dear, he didn’t blow your cover, did he?” Aerona questioned, rightfully concerned.

“No, in fact he was on board with what I was doing…” The Crimson God took a second to relax, marveling at the marble and gold mantle. “I should go visit Blood. I really want to see him again…”

“You’ll have to be careful that he doesn’t figure out that you’re the…” Beorhtric started to say.

“The Crimson God?” A man’s voice all too familiar to them pointed out. In the entrance leaning against the wall was Blood-Wraith, a smug, yet warm smile on his face. “Good to see you again, Nosmirc.”

Despite being found out, The Crimson God felt the greatest he had ever felt in a long time. “Blood-Wraith…” he started to say, only to be cut off by a young, blonde-haired boy who ran into the hall and straight towards him.

“NOSMIRC, YOU DUMMYHEAD!” The boy exclaimed as he ran to The Crimson God and started bopping him repeatedly on the legs.

“AH, hey now!” He said as he began to retreat from the bopping boy, but this resulted in him being chased around Aerona and Beorhtric, making the two laugh.

“Haha, now hold up a second, my boy,” Beorhtric said to Blood-Wraith as he walked up to them, avoiding the ongoing chase. “I know Leif made it so the spell wears off in due time, but how did you figure out…?”

“That Nosmirc was actually The Crimson God? Well some of my memories had been coming back and I was getting suspicious, especially looking back on when I cast the curse to make sure I came into existence regardless. And then Mind-Wraith and Aava told me the story and it all clicked…” Blood-Wraith then caught the boy and picked him up after figuring The Crimson God had had enough bopping. “Alright, Thaddeus, cut Nosmirc some slack…”

Thaddeus laughed and bubbled his lips. “Oh okay, Blood…”

“Goodness, what an energetic young lad,” Aerona complimented. “Who are his parents?”

“Corentin and Kresimira. And there’s a good reason why he wanted to come with me other than me babysitting him…”

It then occurred to The Crimson God who the boy actually was once he sensed the magnificent soul within him. “Wait a second! It can’t be… is that Leif?”

Blood-Wraith nodded. “Yes indeed, Nosmirc. I told everyone Leif would be back and I was right.”

Thaddeus then went over to The Crimson God and gave him a hug. “Thank you, Nosmirc.”

“Aw, how sweet,” said Aerona. “But goodness, does he actually remember his time as Leif?”

“Ehh, it’s spotty, but some memories appeared to have persisted past reincarnation,” Blood-Wraith clarified. “He recognized his teddy bear when Lia brought it from the Tower of Babel… Oh, Nosmirc? Pretty much everybody in The Dark Divers Guild sort of deduced that you were The Crimson God this entire time. Apparently it’s a bit of an open secret according to Mind and Aava.”

The Crimson God winced. “Don’t tell me it was Metal…”

“Mm-hmm…” The Gryphon God noted, knowing The Metal God all too well.

“Yeah, it kind of was,” Blood-Wraith said with a nod. “Look, dad, good job either way.”

That made The Crimson God smile, reassuring him that his effort was not for naught. “Thanks, Blood. I’m never doing that again though, ha.”

After a quick chuckle, Blood-Wraith realized something important he wanted to say. “Oh, Nosmirc, you’re more than welcome at The ULTRAMagic Guild. We could use The Amazing Nosmirc’s miracles going forward. You’re welcome too, Gryphon.”

“Well now, that’s quite the honor, Blood,” The Gryphon god replied with a bow. “I shall not let you down…” He then noticed Thaddeus marveling at his feathers.

“Ooh, shiny…” he complimented, with The Gryphon God getting down, inviting him to get on his back. Thaddeus laughed as they began walking around the great hall.

“I thought you had announced that you were taking a break from the guild, Blood,” Beorhtric pointed out.

“Well yeah, I am, but I’m still a member,” he admitted. “ I kind of want to go hang out with the Dark Divers at the moment, however. And it's about time our guilds started properly working together.”

The Crimson God clapped, feeling the nostalgia get the best of him. “Well I can guarantee everyone is eager to see you again, especially now that you’re all grown up.”

“Most certainly,” Aerona concurred. “Oh, Beorhtric, that reunion you proposed?”

“Ah yes indeed, my darling!” Beorhtric recalled. “Blood, Crimson, since Leif as Thaddeus is here, how about I call on Scotty, Zara, and the others for a little get together, here in the castle?”

“Sure, that would be great!” Blood-Wraith said with enthusiasm in his voice. “I should probably let Corentin and Kresimira know before they panic about how Thaddeus and I are missing, hehe.”

“Of course, you take care of that and we’ll get the rest all squared away!” Beorhtric said as he and Aerona began to leave the great hall.

Blood-Wraith gave a gentle sigh as he watched Thaddeus continue to ride The Gryphon God around the room, clearly having a lot of fun. “I’m going to have to play dumb for a while, aren’t I?’

“Yup, especially given what I’ve orchestrated with Beorhtric and Schwarzes,” The Crimson God answered.

“And it’s about to get a lot more interesting, isn’t it, Nosmirc?”

He smiled and nodded. “You have no idea, Blood.”

“Oh, and can you give me some pointers for being tenth dimensional? It may not look like it, but I’ve been a bit under the weather with all the strange new stuff I’m sensing…”

“Of course I can,” he said as he put his arm around Blood-Wraith’s shoulders. “The first thing you need to realize is that the Cosmos is effectively a delicate sandbox at this level…”
