ULTRAMagic (Before) Prelude - Introduction

What in the blue blazes is this story? Book 9.1?! What does this have to do with anything? Well, have a seat and I’ll explain. This is a very special story that serves to explain what happened right before ULTRAMagic Prelude in regards to the plans of Leif (The Dragon of Old) and a certain someone had to stop The Lich of Old. Let’s just say that the overall plans were not perfect and we are about to meet a special ar’ton we all know and love, seeing what he was like long before he became the man he is now. Not only that, but we will finally get a glimpse into the enigmatic Dark Divers Guild. This will be a short book, only a novelette in length, but will greatly expand the scope of ULTRAMagic Alternate as a whole. And if you read ULTRAMagic Eon 2 (this is book 9.1, why haven’t you read the other books already?), you will already have a good idea on what is about to happen.
This book will tie into the events of Lore Entry 27 on Scotty Cottonwood and Earth-231218, being a follow up of sorts. We’ll catch up with Scotty and Zara and see what they have been up to. With that being said, it would be ideal to read ULTRAMagic Archive. In fact, you should read ULTRAMagic Archive in general, as it will greatly enhance the ULTRAMagic Alternate experience. There will also be references to Lore Entry 25. Do you absolutely need to read the preceding books to enjoy this story? Technically you could jump in with this book given its chronological placement in the series, but it will make more sense if you read the previous books, it will potentially spoil the other books, and the ending definitely makes more sense if you’ve read ULTRAMagic Eon 2. I cannot force you to read the other books, but again, I highly advise reading them for this book to make complete sense. Plus I’ve put a lot of work into them.
In truth I don’t have much to say about this book. This is not a declaration that the book is vapid or hollow, rather what this story has to say should be said in the writing itself. It’s a novelette, so it has less overall material than books like ULTRAMagic Interlude (Bonus Chapters) and ULTRAMagic Chaos. Originally I typed this back in October and there was a whole tirade about society and how our governments are treating the general public like dirt. The British government, ever out of touch with reality if you ask me, is pushing authoritarian nonsense like the Online Safety Act. What is being peddled is this push to protect and think about the children, in reality, is just an attempt by Mr. Keir Starmer to silence criticism of himself and control society. And if you are about to get up and decry me for saying that, as of typing this he is at a 15% approval rating and a 73% disapproval rating, possibly some of the lowest approval ratings in British history from what people are saying. Even if you have no love for any of these topics, there is no getting around the fact that the majority of British people proper do NOT like Mr. Keir Starmer.
Given how long-winded my rant got in the initial draft, I have elected to retype it and omit all of that stuff. I have not deleted it, and I suppose if there is enough demand for it I will share it. There is nothing controversial about it in the slightest, it is just a long winded discussion about what is going on in my life at the moment. Funnily enough this whole censorship issue is doing exactly what I thought it would; becoming a “forever issue.” You know what I mean: they keep saying they are going to do this, that we are all done for, but then nothing ever happens aside from huffing and puffing and our lives becoming slightly more inconvenient. Seriously, this nonsense kicked up in July and we are all still here. I’m 99.99% sure these governments and companies do not actually have the means or money for global censorship, and I would not be surprised if this nonsense was actually just an excuse to collect our data so they can sell it under the table… pardon my conspiracy theories for a second, ha. Either way I have all sorts of juicy topics and themes to write about going forward. Keep wasting our time, Mr. Keir Starmer, the pen is mightier than the sword after all and you are LOSING if you have to force this authoritarian nonsense through.
To quote the boys from Top Gear: Still, could be worse…
Thank you for making it this far and putting up with whatever nonsense comes out of my mouth this week, haha. Don’t worry about me, I’ll keep writing no matter what. And I can promise you that double (if not triple) the energy I put into all of the venting and ranting in this intro goes into the books. I hope you enjoy ULTRAMagic (Before) Prelude.
Sincerely,
William Ford II (1/13/2026)
