- - Walker's Origin - -

So Walker has been alluded to before, in Ex and Roger's entries. Walter Nithercott comes from a timeline where he was enrolled in a prestigious magic school... by the skin of his teeth. Yeah, he really had to work to earn his spot at the school. It was worth it as he did learn a lot while there. Everything was great until a great battle ransacked the school. An evil sorcerer was tearing his way through the land and had his sights set on Walker's school. It was a time of great turmoil and strife as lives were lost. Many hid, but some fought back with the royal soldiers tasked to defend the school. Walker fought tooth and nail to enroll, so he wasn't going down without a fight. And fight he did, valiantly. Things were going great until tragedy struck: A magic anomaly, summoned by the evil sorcerer, took Walker by surprise and ended his life. While true that Walker was hesitating a little as to not lose control of his magic, he was still caught off guard regardless.

To his surprise, he ended up in the Unlight. It was a realm he had heard about, but never had any idea he would ever go to it. And even stranger, he wasn't a ghost. After wandering a bit, he was discovered by a British doctor who also happened to be an ULTRAMagic mage. This was ULTRAMagic Magistrate, a Defacto leader of the ULTRAMagic Guild. Walker had the potential for ULTRAMagic and the guild definitely brought it out in him. He decided to specialize in Fire, Ice, and Lightning magic. The book he carries is a collection of various techniques he had come up with. Walker doesn't quite trust his head to remember everything, so he got a book for that stuff. Plus one of his old teachers always told him "Write it down on paper if you can't trust your head." Once Walker was trained up enough by the guild, he decided to pay his old timeline a visit. Thankfully the school was still there and uncompromised... but the sorcerer was still alive. Let's just say the evil sorcerer died due to an inexplicable meteor impact...

Walker would eventually form a squad consisting of a dwarf named Baldr, a Jotunn who called himself Frost, and a 5th dimensional going by the name "Infinity."

- - Meeting ULTRAMagic Thunder - -

Walker's squad is an odd unit given their different backgrounds. A ghost, dwarf, giant, and a 5th dimensional are not the typical team of adventurers. And in time, they would add ULTRAMagic Lance to their group on Infinity's recommendation. One of their notable assignments was a survey of the Thunder wastelands... which was an interesting situation for Lance given his infamous rampage from a millennia prior. Turns out there was a creature roaming the place... a beast that resembled a wolf with the look of a crazed and starved animal. He appeared to also be able to channel lighting through his fur, possibly an Aberrant magic ability. Walker tried to approach this creature, but then it ran right while he was talking... The group promptly pursued the fleeing beast.

Of course the beast just had to mess with the group. After splitting them up, he toyed with each one of them. Eventually the group reunited in which the beast challenged them to a fight. Walker, feeling a bit irked, figured this would be easy and declared he would take care of it. The beast then revealed something Infinity had been trying to tell Walker for a while now: The beast had achieved ULTRAMagic. On top of this, he had skill in Soul magic, Aura, and Void. After being bested by the beast, he promptly went to go destroy some rocks and boulders while the others handled the situation. This was baffling to him as how was a beast able to become an ULTRAMagic mage? It must have been from a timeline where they had intelligent beasts? A plague of beasthood? Or maybe he was from the Unlight? As he paced on thought, Boulder brought him back over to the group.

The beast was impressed by Walker's group and wanted to join them. Walker was royally annoyed, but his brain was too fried to put up a fight. Besides, he could probably get something out of studying the beast and his magic. The beast introduced himself as ULTRAMagic Thunder, a once human man who had become a beast due to a series of events out of his control. After being hunted for some time, he descended into a vast, underground city where he found a portal that led to the Unlight. From that point onwards, he wandered and slowly learned the basics of magic. He was not sure how he achieved ULTRAMagic though. He did note that there were times where he thought he saw people roaming around, but then they would disappear and he would feel weirdly invigorated.

ULTRAMagic Thunder is poor mannered and brash, but he is loyal and dedicated to his team. Despite Walker having troubles getting Thunder to do what he wants while out and about, he does appreciate the beast man's courage and strength of will. Plus the rest of the team loved him, so there was no point in going against that. Plus Thunder was legitimately teaching Walker a lot about his unique magic, which gave him insight on things he had never thought to think of before. Thunder has also expressed interest in having ULTRAMagic Ex joining the team, of which Walker is definitely considering.

- - About Walker - -

Personality wise, Walker is respectful, organized, diligent, and helpful. These were all traits that earned him respect amongst the faculty of the magic school. Plus it felt great to help people out in general. In line with that, Walker is a bit of a nerd. He is very wise when it comes to Magic and Alchemy. When out in the field, Walker takes time to assess his situation and figure out the best course of action. He's not above charging in headfirst, if the situation calls for it. He takes up the leadership role of his squad and is a reliable leader. He's not without fault, however.

His death has caused him to get a bit testy when he sees people lying around or not doing their duties. He also gets a tad short with people when interrupted during his studies. And sometimes he can be a bit strict with his leadership. These most likely stem from his past, given that he felt under pressure to perform at his best when at school. Something Walker does not take well to is pranks, which Infinity takes advantage of. When he gets stressed out enough, he tends to go destroy rocks or felled trees and then eventually calms down enough to pace. Or sometimes he just paces. It ultimately depends on his mood. And lastly, he appears to be very hesitant about revealing his name. Why this is is unclear to all but a few, including Infinity.

Walker is in a bit of an odd state given how he entered the Unlight. When he died, he was supposed to return to Heaven... but he ended up in the Unlight. This caused his Soul to merge with his physical body. He is both alive and dead. For all intents and purposes, he is the textbook definition of a ghost. He is capable of phasing through things, hovering, and possessing people if they allow him or his will is strong enough. This definitely has an effect on his magic, giving it ghostly and spectral vibes. He is also able to spot and communicate with other ghosts much easier than other people. Despite all this, he appears to be happy, healthy, and stable.

Yeah, not much to say given all of the stuff in the previous uploads. I probably could have done a bit better on this, but finishing this was rocky. I was incredibly irritated Friday and of course Corel was being Corel... And today I got distracted by MMD, at first. Now I did want to add some glow to the rainbow part of the robes, but I realized that would need a little more work and I wanted to finish this up. So explanation from before: The rainbow bits only glow when magic is being cast or power is being used... Good lord, I need to get better at digital art... Also I need to figure out a better way to do fabric texture. Yeah, the cloak isn't that great. Context on the robes: they are weird and flow... break physics.

A lot of this is influenced by fantasy RPGs and D&D in case you are wondering. Not completely, but definitely inspired by. Also obviously Undertale and Deltarune, but that’s kind of obvious at this point.

Yes, Infinity is an ULTRAMagic mage. What, you didn't know? He never told you? Well yes, but he rarely uses the power in its full form. Consider also that he is 5th dimensional and has been taught not to interfere with the flow of time.

So yes, look forward to ULTRAMagic Magistrate, Infinity's ULTRAMagic form, and another mage who will be relevant to ULTRAMagic Ex. As per usual, tell me what you think.
