- - David's Origin - -
Dr. David Livesey is an oddball in regards to the ULTRAMagic guild. He hails from 19th century Britain, where he was a doctor and a magistrate While on Treasure Island during a treasure hunting journey, he would discover an odd book. It was a nonsensical book that detailed everything one needed to know about magic and a quaint concept called "ULTRAMagic." Livesey wrote it off as nonsense, but was strangely drawn to the book. Something was compelling him to read and even to seek similar books. Keeping his studies a secret, he poured over the tome and would discover his soul magic aptitude. As David became more reclusive, he realized that his timeline was too limiting and primitive. His isolation together with his collection of books would end up driving him a bit mad, causing him to discover a means of entering the Unlight. You would have to be exceptionally mad to do this.
David would wander for a bit before being discovered by ULTRAMagic Reaper. Reaper was a mage of exceptional skill who seemed to be the Unlight for reasons he'd rather keep to himself. Being a bit hyper, Livesey sat Reaper down at a rock and taught him how to play chess. Where he got the chess set is anyone's guess. Regardless, Reaper had fun as this game was a bit new to him (he hailed from a timeline that was still in B.C.E.). The two talked and talked, with Reaper coming to greatly respect Dr. Livesey.
The doctor was a truly fascinating and upstanding individual. Reaper was also interested in the books that had brought David to the Unlight. He was curious to see what this newcomer had taught himself. As Reaper suspected, David was sloppy and unorganized with his magic, but this was to be expected. He then told David that he was a member of the ULTRAMagic guild, a collection of mages and warriors that helped maintain the balance of the Multiverse (amongst other organizations). Despite David's old age, he showed great potential, which was surprising. The doctor agreed to go with Reaper, since he was essentially past the point of no return, or so he felt.
- - The ULTRAMagic Guild - -
In time, David would become ULTRAMagic Magistrate, with training from Reaper and Vanguard. He would become the guild's chief medical doctor and, well, their magistrate (since it was in his skill set). This was an interesting time for the guild as he would introduce a degree of order. Unfortunately this prompted three mage's (Blade, Razor, and Artillery) to strike out on their own. Despite the upset, David would continue on to become a de facto leader of the guild, amongst others. He saw that the guild was unruly and unorganized and he sought to rectify this. His effort showed, as the guild was able to get more done and had more time to focus on themselves. This led to discovery of new knowledge and an uptick in recruitment. It also helped that the guild members didn't always have to rely on each other for medical attention… Some of the guild members weren't the best medics.
Another mage, ULTRAMagic Lance, would bring a young man to the guild. This individual was a young 5th dimensional by the name of Ignatius. Finding out the boy was all alone caused David to immediately take him under his wings. David had never had a son of his own and he missed his time with James Hawkins. Another thing that caught David's eye was the fact that Ignatius had innate ULTRAMagic, as he was born with it. What prompted such an anomaly was beyond him, but it was worth studying regardless.
Ignatius had previously joined the Reality Walkers, but his magic had been acting up and interfered with his work. This prompted Lance to bring him to the guild. He knew someone could teach Ignatius how to refine his magic. David was a perfect match as he acted like a second father to Ignatius. He wasn't a doting father, he was a stoic father who expected the best out of Ignatius. The boy was rebellious at first, but he would simmer down as his training went on. By the end of it, David was proud to see Ignatius go on to become ULTRAMagic Infinity.
Reaper, David, and Infinity would often go on to do missions together as the three worked well together. Reaper was intellectual and tactful, Infinity was brave and strong, and David knew how to utilize the two effectively. Of note was the time they recruited Aoife Crawford, who would go on to be ULTRAMagic Devil and become another de facto leader. Later on, several mage's would be abducted, prompting the guild to send out a rescue squad. Unexpectedly grabbing a unique hammer from the guild blacksmith, David took charge of the rescue squad and led the charge. This mission was successful and led to the founding of a special squad known as the saviors, helmed by David. This squad would include members such as Devil and Vanguard.
- - About David Livesey - -
David is a skilled medic, having learned proper medicine and healing magic. He also uses his soul magic to augment his strength. Another method for his magic he makes use of is subterfuge and sleight of hand. The inspiration for this came from the thieves that would try to rob him back in 19th century Britain. And lastly, shield constructs were a later addition. After so many incidents where David was attacked while performing medical action, he figured it was time to learn some new magic techniques.
The explosion hammer he holds does as advertised: explosions. Prime the Hammer and let it rip! Naturally this process needs to be powered by magic, but the explosions can be absolutely devastating. Truthfully this hammer wasn't meant to see combat as it was a prototype. While ULTRAMagic Blacksmith was a bit irritated at first, he was impressed with what the mad doctor was able to do with it. And what about the gun? That's a Webley revolver he had back from his timelines that he transformed into a soul magic weapon. Why does it manifest like that? Because he is mad, why else? It fires magic soul bullets in case you are wondering.
Personality-wise, David is a professional, upstanding leader and paramount moral fiber… and a little crazy. He's also very wise and intelligent. He knows what you need and why you need it. Given his background, he expects you to be on your best behavior. As a doctor and magistrate, he refuses to drink or smoke. It is his duty to keep his faculties in line… despite his quirks. Due to his madness, he is prone to fits of laughter, staring, checking things over and over, talking to himself, taking inventory when he doesn't need to… regardless, he is fully dependable and reliable.

Why Doctor Livesey? Soviet Dr. Livesey, because why not? I actually think I caught that meme before it exploded because of a compilation of scenes of Dr. Livesey from Soviet Treasure Island prior to it. I was kind of befuddled because RUSSIAN, but I got a kick out of it. That incarnation has so much bravado and charm despite me not being able to understand him. It also helps that Treasure Island is in the public domain...

Why yes, the scene of Reaper, Infinity, and Livesey going to recruit Aoife should be set to Why Not by Ghostface Playa. Speaking of Infinity, YES, HE IS UP NEXT... after I upload some other stuff. Then we should get to Reaper. I will note that his name is not fully indicative of who he is. You'll see what I mean when I upload him.
Shining metal is a pain. I will say that this was easier to do after taking it in separate chunks, rather than doing it all in one go. Like, I want to get things done in one day, but that may not be possible with more complex stuff. The armor had me scratching my head a little bit, but I managed. I wanted to do something different and make the magic energy more subtle this time. I did not want to drown out the British aspect of Dr. Livesey.
In hindsight, maybe I should have added more detail to the skin. I got wrinkles and lines in there, but maybe I could have done more. Yes, the explosion hammer is based off of the Boom hammer from Bloodborne. Literally ULTRAMagic Blacksmith played Bloodborne and got inspired.
I'd say the ULTRAMagic stuff is going well. Like I said, there is more on the way. I really should get around to make a master post for the lore... Tell me what you think, as per usual.
