- - Ignatius' Problem - -

Since there was a lot typed in my initial uploads of Infinity, I won't bore you with recounting what has already been covered. And while we should touch more on his background with the Reality Walkers, we shall save that for a future upload.

What can be said about Infinity's original timeline is that both of his parents were ULTRAMagic mages. Oddly they never joined the guild, but that is currently beside the point. What matters here is that Ignatius had great magic potential as early as 6, albeit he had immense trouble controlling it... because he was a young child. His parents were indeed planning on giving him proper training as soon as he turned 10. Married couples with ULTRAMagic are rare, so the effect this level has on the body is not yet fully understood.

What we can discern here is that it does affect childbirth. If a bond between a couple is strong enough, fragments of their souls will transfer to the soul of the baby and grant them ULTRAMagic from birth. Essentially this allows the child to have the ability to learn whatever type of magic they want. Something Ignatius did not do when he fell out of reality was practice his magic. It was swept to the wayside in the panic and mayhem of being trapped in the rift. While it was always at the back of his mind, Ignatius paid no attention to his magic potential.

Ignatius' problem when he joined the Reality Walkers was his magic. He could not control it and it would go off at the worst times. He would hurl fireballs at random, turn into solid metal and fall to the ground, go invisible when his squad mates needed to know his location, shoot up into the air at the worst possible time, and would occasionally generate magic shockwaves that knocked everyone about. Suffice it to say the poor boy needed help. One of his superiors would contact a mage who went by "Lance" and asked him to take a look at Ignatius. It was then confirmed that he was indeed an ULTRAMagic mage in desperate need of training. The two would take off to the Unlight and the ULTRAMagic guild. Upon arriving at the guild hall, Ignatius would be immediately noticed by Dr. David Livesey (ULTRAMagic Magistrate) who would take him under his wings and begin his training.

- - Training and joining the guild - -

Of course Ignatius was in his rebellious phase, so he mouthed off frequently to David. While annoying, he knew the boy had potential and that he needed to be patient with him. Plus he could tell that Ignatius had been separated from his parents at a young age, aside from Lance telling him about where Ignatius came from. The training took a bit, but eventually Livesey was able to turn Ignatius into a respectable mage. Once he was ready, Ignatius would receive the title of ULTRAMagic Infinity and be marked as a proper member of the guild.

His first mission was quite the adventure as it took him into the far flung future, roughly 1,000 years after his time, had he not fallen out of reality. A ghostly, biomechanical warrior had piloted his spaceship through the void and had strayed too far into the Unlight. It was Infinity's job to guide him back to where he needed to be. Acting as a guiding light, Infinity soared through the void with the warrior close behind. Upon reaching the third dimension, the warrior immediately took off into a battle with a giant spaceship. Also participating in the battle was another warrior, one that felt weirdly familiar to Infinity. This warrior was being pursued by enemy fighters, so Infinity cast a great, green fireball and destroyed the enemy fighter. After saluting the warrior and waving goodbye, Infinity returned to the Unlight.

David was the one who coined the title of Infinity and Ignatius liked it so much that he also made it his alias.

As for what squads he would join, he joined two. He would unofficially join the rescue squadron, an off the books squad that tasked itself with rescuing mages in trouble. Officially he joined Walker's squad. It could be argued that he is the true leader of Walker's squad. While Walker isn't a slouch, he also isn't a perfect leader. Often Infinity has to cover for him. Due to his connections with the Reality Walkers and his 5th dimensional status, Infinity is often seen as one of the guild's de facto leaders.

Speaking of Infinity's position on the dimensional ladder, it should be noted that he cannot die due to being one with the flow of time. His body can be temporarily destroyed, but he will come back no matter what. Typically he keeps his guild work to the Unlight, Hell, Chaos, and Purgatory. This raises the question if he's the strongest member of the guild. While he is adept with his magic, he is not the strongest. The debate for the strongest members centers around Vanguard, Disciple, Master-Skull, Dreadnaught, and Blood-Wraith. Infinity has a long way to go before he is able to match their strength and prowess.

- - About Infinity - -

Infinity's ULTRAMagic form is influenced by several things. One was Magistrate, naturally. The sleek suit underneath was based on his father's ULTRAMagic form. The last influence was an alchemist character from a video game that his parents both played. The coat looked cool and the gloves protected his hands. The body suit was also chosen because it was flexible, durable, and comfy.

As for magic, Infinity's aptitude is soul magic, hands down. He loves casting green fireballs, an ability he inherited from his mother. Something else he got from his mother was Alchemy, but he takes this to a whole new level. Infinity is capable of mixing his soul fragments to create new abilities and powers. He has discovered all sorts of unique spells by mixing fragments, but he has slowed down a bit in recent years. Some of his favorite alchemic spells are: Plasma skin, flamebolt, waterlock, ice torrent, thunder blitz, quake storm. Metal skin is also something he created, but he hasn't truly perfected it yet.

As for his personality (which I kind of forgot in the 2021 character reference...), it depends on what era you look at. During his early days he was a stinker, through and through. He played pranks, back-talked, and was generally loud and rowdy. He loved having fun, which was kind of hard to do back in the rift. Infinity was bold, headstrong, and often got into trouble. He also had a tendency to claim he didn't need parents, which many had a good idea where the attitude stemmed from. That level of denial did concern the Reality Walkers.

What got him to chill out was David. The doctor was patient, stern, and fatherly with him. Eventually Infinity realized he was a bit of a troublemaker and needed to calm down. The discipline of his training turned him into an easy-going, yet focused individual. He learned to go with the flow and not take out his frustrations on others. He also turned into a goofball who was supportive and thoughtful. Of course he still had his prankster side, but it was subdued. Of note is that he tends to get emotional when thinking back on his old timeline or getting near his parents. He can also get very testy when people start to do things he warned them not to do...

Oh boy, that was a lot... We finally got around to Infinity... again. Yup, he's also an ULTRAMagic mage. Will I ever do a dedicated backstory for Infinity? I don't know. Also yeah, I probably should cover the Reality Walkers soon. The only issue though is that Infinity is going into retirement with the RW. Contrary to his appearance, he's served with them for ages. Hey! we finally got an update to his appearance... as in I fixed the BIG ANIME EYES issue.

Also I wanted to establish that his hair does NOT flip when he faces different directions. I am not a fan of that drawing technique...trope... Ahem, the question everyone wants to know: IS THAT LATEX? No... yes... but also, no. It is latex-adjacent and that's what he was going for, but it's a magic material formed from his magic. Again, it's flexible, durable, and comfy... It does occasionally ride and bunch up a little bit from time to time, however.

While I will do other stuff up next, Reaper will probably be the next mage I upload... or Lance. It will either be Lance or Reaper. This also assumes I don't get sidetracked and upload another denizen.

I know I need to do other stuff than just character profiles... BUT WE STILL GOT LANCE, REAPER, AND OTHERS TO GET THROUGH! ARGH. A big question is what of GTALT Infinity? And all of the other Infinity's? The Unlight is a bit complicated... It has multiple instances, so it is entirely possible for let's say two Infinity's to be ULTRAMagic Infinity without running into each other. So yes, most of the alternate Infinity's are ULTRAMagic mages and our Infinity has met some of them, including GTALT Infinity. I really need to do a write up on the reality of my stories and settings...
