- - The Mystery of Ex - -
Who is Ex? We don't know. The only ones who know are Infinity and ULTRAMagic Walker... and they aren't saying for some reason. Regardless, the man who would become Ex ended up in the Unlight, discovered by Walker. The man realized that Ex was abandoned by his timeline and had nowhere to go. Ex was teetering on the edge of non-existence, so Walker took pity on him and granted him the soul fragments to turn the mysterious man into ULTRAMagic Ex. Of course Ex was bewildered when he finally came to. Where was he? Why did it feel like he existed despite removing himself from existence? Did his friend fulfil his mission? What even happened to his original timeline, given the chaos it was going through? What he did expect was being greeted by a young, twenty something mage who was offering him help and a place to stay. Introducing himself as Walker, Ex was royally confused. Walker radiated power and energy, much like an old friend from his timeline. Regardless, Walker seem friendly, so Ex went with him. After wandering the bizarre landscape of the Unlight, the two ended up at a colossal lodge, alive with light and music.
- - Joining the ULTRAMagic Guild - -
This was the ULTRAMagic guild, a collection of various other ULTRAMagic users. These were mages who had accumulated great power and allied to protect the multiverse from threats of the magical variety. The guild also served to recruit those who had the potential to wield ULTRAMagic. In the giant, grand hall were various other mages and warriors eating, drinking, singing, dancing, practicing their magic, and just generally going about their business. Walker brought Ex over to his friends, a Jotunn and a Mountain Dwarf. the 12 foot tall giant went by Frost and was intrigued by Ex, given that Walker had just found him out in the Unlight. The Mountain Dwarf, Baldr Graystone, went by Boulder. He was 5 foot tall, which was quite tall for a Dwarf. Baldr got a good look at Ex and could see sorrow and darkness in his soul. Yet, there was determination and bravery that refused to be snuffed out. The night went fine as Walker, Frost and Boulder got to know Ex. While Ex's memory was fragmented, he was able to recount the basics of what led him into the Unlight. Boulder being a proud dwarf and won over by Ex's story, grabbed a pint for him and Ex, and took Ex up to the presentation stage. He then gave Ex a proper welcoming to the guild and proposed a toast. Naturally everyone was game for this and Ex's membership in the guild was final.
The final battle Ex had before his departure from his timeline was depressing and full of despair. He truly thought he was done for. The ULTRAMagic guild sparked the fire inside him once more. He even met people that had been through something similar to him. So what if he had failed back in his timeline? Fate had smiled upon and given him a second chance. He could right the wrongs of his past and start anew. That night he fell asleep with his smile on his face. Life in the guild was going to be interesting and he was looking forward to it.

Shoot, I should probably discuss the Unlight real quickly: So the Unlight is what you would call untamed reality. It is the void manifested into a realm that mirrors reality, but never truly feels right. Things never behave how they are supposed to and time is irrelevant... yet, relevant. One can find all sorts of treasures, fortunes, tomes and mysteries. Of course you could always find madness, despair, and hopelessness. Either way, it is a dangerous place to explore. One would be best to not tread lightly into the Unlight.

Okay, let's finally talk about the drawing! So I was sitting around and watching a video X-Antibody Digimon when I found out about Cyberdramon X... who looks like he is wearing a futuristic, rubber bodysuit. No, seriously. You know how Cyberdramon is wearing rubber armor in his lore? Bizarre, I know, but Cyberdramon X's armor actually does look like a rubber suit. Naturally I got inspired and wanted to draw something similar. And that's how we came to ULTRAMagic Ex. He's also inspired by the idea of a character dying in a story or sacrificing themselves. You see, in my stories/canon, you are never truly forgotten nor gone. Did you die? You return to Heaven, Hell, Chaos, or Purgatory. Get erased from existence? Well you have to go somewhere, even if it is the void. No matter what, the flow of time itself will always remember you.
Want a way to look at Ex's story? Think of the song Through Heaven's Eyes from The Prince of Egypt. Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas is also a good song to think about it. Flyers by Bradio is also applicable. Throw in a bit of Warrior by Stan Bush. And lastly, Princes of the Universe by Queen. Something from Ex's past may come back to haunt him...
Getting back to Ex's design, no, it is not inspired by latex clothes this time. This design is up my alley, however. This was actually pretty easy to color given the lack of details. I also wanted this design to be simple. And yes, I am aware that Ex does kind of look like a Power Ranger. I caught on to that pretty quickly and loved it. I was a Power Rangers kid growing up, what can I say? As you can see... oh wait... we haven't gotten to Walker yet... Anyways! The Soul Rainbow typically appears differently on each ULTRAMagic mage and we shall see this Walker. I really like the simplistic design for Ex. I think it makes him look adorable. How did I decide the color placement? ROY G BIV... going down symmetrically, obviously. doing the shine was tricky, but I managed. The suit shine wasn't a problem, it was the soul color shine. Note that they glow when magic is being used or the mage is feeling emotionally active.
In regards to the color guide: It includes the suit color and the soul colors. The side colors are the colors I used for the outlines, shine, and reflections. I don't normally go that much in depth, but I felt it looked complete. Really you should use your own choice in colors for those, dependening on what situation you draw the character in.
