- - History of Devils (In brief) - -
Devils are a sort of proto-demon that existed long before the advent of fallen angels, arch demons, and demons themselves. Before the 4 emperors of Hell (Demoriel, Carnasiel, Caspiel, and Amenadiel) arrived in Hell, Devils pretty much did whatever. They were carefree and were only concerned with what they were going to do that day. Then the 4 emperors arrived, 4 greater archangels who sought to have a kingdom all to their own, much like what Adonai had did with Heaven. The Devils welcomed the emperors oddly enough and seemed to revere them instantly. Some of these Devils would truly dedicate themselves to the emperors and became the first demons through learning and guidance. Of course the vast majority of Devils would remain as such and persist to this day. In line with what was stated above, this advent seems to mirror Adonai's arrival in Heaven. He and his kin also stumbled upon entities already living in Heaven, that being the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Ophanim. While they didn't go on to become "Angels," they did get along amazingly with Adonai and his kin.
Devils would return to their old lives of carefree living for some time. They'd occasionally cross paths with demons in regards to activity and socialization, but that was about it. This changed when two angels arrived in Hell, Ianoda and Nasargiel. Ianoda was looking to create the wardens of Hell while Nasargiel was sent as a messenger. Ianoda, a great and fearsome greater archangel, caught the attention of the Devils as he had selected six amongst them to become the wardens of Hell alongside him. Naturally the Devils began to idolize and worship Ianoda given that their people had been chosen for such a grand task. This motivated them to begin interacting with Demons more... and visiting Earth, for better or for worse. It should be noted that Earth did not see a true rise in Devil activity until the Mt. Hermon incident (Where angels mingled with humans and broke heaven's rules).
How "Devil" got associated with Satan and Lucifer is unclear to this day. The two haven't really interacted with Devils all that much. Also Devils are NOT to be confused with Imps or Earth Spirits.
- - Why do Devils matter? - -
Why do Devils matter to us? They are the go to for Necromancers. Necromancy is the act of communing with spirits in order to gain advantage, favor, and honors. Devils are easy to summon and usually cooperate. They allow Necromancers to train themselves and work towards making deals with demons and angels. No matter what, all necromancers start out with Devils. How things go depends on who you call on. A devil with high intelligence will help you with tasks that require knowledge and wit. A Devil with high strength will help you with issues that require muscle. It is key and important to know what your Devil is good at and what they can do. You should also learn how they behave and what their personalities are. Since some Devils have been known to have adult tendencies and interests, it is a widely accepted rule that minors are not allowed to summon Devils unless the Devil in question is specifically known to be safe to work with.
One can summon multiple Devils, but it is ideal to summon one over and over again. This allows the Summoner and Devil to form a bond, allowing them to work more efficiently. Work with them long enough and you may be able to temporarily merge with them, greatly enhancing your skills and granting you special abilities. Plus you get a loyal friend forever and ever. This Devil is Faustus (no relation to the German legend) and is the Devil Will summoned on the regular. Fire devils are tricky to work with as they tend to be very feisty. Will was able to make it work... For strange reasons. Faustus has gone on record saying he likes "the cut of his jib" and the fact that Will is a "Stubborn nerd who's dedicated to what he sets his mind to, even if he shelves it for a bit." Also the fact that Will has a tendency to be a smart-ass makes Faustus laugh. The two have grown close and pretty much inseparable. Despite the introduction of Ornias in recent times, Faustus has no plans on leaving anytime soon.
Faustus grants Will fire manipulation, a possessed form, and various bits of knowledge he has stumbled across over the eons. It should be noted that Faustus never has a consistent size, always going back and forth between anywhere from 3 foot to 6 foot. And lastly, Devils come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Unlike demons, their color usually indicates what their elemental affinity is.

This is slightly overdue. My two previous uploads are to blame for that. Regardless, here is some more lore for the Necromancers of my stories. I really do need to get around to adding more lore to the rest of my magic system. This was a pretty easy one to work on. I feel like I nailed the Devil look... or at least I was able to distinguish him from my demons. The lore for this one was fun to work on, not going to lie.
I don't feel like I have really too much to say outside what was stated in the lore. Tell me what you think. Definitely expect more stuff like this in the future. Maybe I should work on the true Weave mage I got in store. Believe it or not, it's not Captain Roger. Sure he was the first to introduce Weave magic, but he's not the one I want to focus on for the branch of my magic system.
I don't feel like I have really too much to say outside what was stated in the lore. Tell me what you think. Definitely expect more stuff like this in the future. Maybe I should work on the true Weave mage I got in store. Believe it or not, it's not Captain Roger. Sure he was the first to introduce Weave magic, but he's not the one I want to focus on for the branch of my magic system.
