Oh boy, I am putting stuff off again. In league with this upload: Character Reference: Zas (2022), I have revisited something from 2019. Unfortunately I cannot link to the original drawing this time because I had to private it. Can you guess why? If not (COUGH) Chaotic Talks 0.46: Where have I been? (COUGH). Yeah, the original drawing is indirectly linked to the events described in Chaotic Talks 0.46. I did not want the design from the piece of fan art I drew to be lost forever and I wanted to remake it into something more original. I remembered a bizarre one off from 2019: William the Void Fae and thought "Hey! Why don't I take this stuff and rework them as denizens of The Unlight?" I first described the Unlight here: ULTRAMagic Ex, but to reiterate:

Shoot, I should probably discuss the Unlight real quickly: So the Unlight is what you would call untamed reality. It is the void manifested into a realm that mirrors reality, but never truly feels right. Things never behave how they are supposed to and time is irrelevant... yet, relevant. One can find all sorts of treasures, fortunes, tomes and mysteries. Of course you could always find madness, despair, and hopelessness. Either way, it is a dangerous place to explore. One would be best to not tread lightly into the Unlight.
So across the gray, surreal landscape of the Unlight, you will find entities who live in the Unlight. You also find flora and fauna that defies logic, but that's not the topic of this upload. The entities tend to vary and come in all shapes and sizes. You can find an entity based on the vast majority of things like trees, rocks, crystals, plants, animals, etc. Some live in communities while others wander the vastness of the Unlight. Some are friendly and some are hostile. As an aside: Attacking a friendly Unlight denizen is widely condemned and looked down upon. It's also believed you will be cursed with misfortune.

Auda is a female, tree-based denizen. She is a friendly wanderer who likes to explore. Despite her friendliness, she's actually kind of quiet. She's not one to go out and actively seek interaction with others. Auda never had what you would define as parents. She was born in a village of Unlight denizens... as in she just appeared one day. The village elders did their best to raise her, but she never had a true parental bond. Now that's not to say she was antisocial. She made friends, but she never really felt attached to anyone or anything. This most likely contributed to her desire to explore. Once she was old enough, she set out on her own. She never really kept a map, more like journal notes about things she saw. She also got to occasionally glance into timelines in reality, due to rifts in the Unlight. At some point, she would discover two unique buildings: The ULTRAMagic guild hall and a 3-story house that seemed like it was plucked right out of reality...
Auda actually does have some magical aptitude, but it's nothing too serious. It's mostly stealth-based and sleight of hand. Auda has never been one for fighting, but that's not to say she couldn't develop her magic further. She's also fairly strong and can easily hold her own in a fight. Despite her appearance, she's actually quite smooth if a little coarse. Her "eyes" are just for show. The orb inside her body is her soul and is bound to her form. Touching it (with her permission) results in a warm, fuzzy sensation. Touching it without her permission could result in you getting burnt. Even though the Unlight is the Unlight, Auda is in touch with nature. Auda is capable of eating whatever she can put into her body. Her favorite food comes from both Earth and Atlangea.

Coloring this was annoying as I had to fiddle around with the brushes I have Corel. I actually forgot which brush I was using... Also I was messing around with PMD and MMD before I started this because I wanted to experiment with something, but it wasn't going well... So I said "screw it! Enough messing around, I got art to do." Coloring was uneventful. Just the usual using alternate colors in the line art and then filling in the rest. I wasn't sure what color scheme to go with at first and I was going to go with a purple color scheme... but then it hit me: Autumn. And yeah, I like how this turned out. I suck at wood grain and bark... Yes, horns were in the original design and the tail... wasn't a tail, but that's what I am going with.
Yes, I know all of the info is in the wrong place... HAHAHAHA! Ahem, actually I didn't want the title covering up Auda.
Honestly this wasn't a pain to work on, despite the issues I had with the brushes. That was just me being a detail nut. Speaking of revisiting old ideas, I really need to get back to that. I've got stuff I've been pushing off and I need to stop doing that. On the other hand, I suppose you can't stop an idea once it gets going. Tell me what you think, as per usual.
