    “OH COME ON!”

“Whoa, what’s the matter, Blood?” Vexation asked as he stuck his head in his bedroom, alongside Drusa.

“I got the bad ending!” He exclaimed as credits scrolled up on his small television.

Drusa looked at the video game console, then at the television. “I think you need to unlock every sacred memory before beating the final boss…”

Blood-Wraith glared at Drusa with a look of utmost frustration. “Do you not know how annoying those are to find?”

“Don’t you have a guide or something similar?” Vexation inquired. He then noticed that Blood-Wraith was going into a specific menu. “Blood, what are you doing?”

    “Starting over…”

Drusa quickly leapt into action. “Wait, sweetie, no!” she said as she snatched the controller from his hands. “Don’t delete your game just yet…” sensing Blood-Wraith’s frustration as he protested, she opened his save file as fast as possible and highlighted a specific item. “See? It’s not all bad.”

Blood-Wraith grumbled as he inspected the item in question. “Fine, I won’t start over…”

Vexation shook his head. “Blood, you shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Also, Drusa, how do you know so much about this?”

    “5th dimensional, Rich.”

“Right, forgot,” he replied as he snapped his fingers. “Blood, still want to go see the guild hall today?”

“Oh yeah… give me a second, I need to go brush my teeth. Jeez, I need to stop wasting my time with that game…”

Truthfully, Vexation was growing a bit concerned over Blood-Wraith’s study habits. He was a child after all, but that urge to fool around was unbecoming of a leader. Adding insult to injury, Blood-Wraith was not exactly demonstrating the best coping methods. Tiberius would have to pick up the slack when it came to leading the guild at this rate. While not the worst thing ever, what would people think of Blood-Wraith? He helped save the Cosmos, yet he was having trouble accepting failure. All of this could not be shaken from Vexation’s mind. Thankfully Tiberius would get to see Blood-Wraith in his current state and figure out what to do from there.

Blood-Wraith finished getting ready, putting on his armor and throwing a t-shirt and shorts over it. Once everything was set, Vexation opened the portal he had been using and the three stepped in. Upon walking out of the shadowy corridor, Blood-Wraith was greeted by the cacophonous sounds of construction. A grand building with its frame built stood before them as it was worked on by magical golems and constructs. Some were tall while others resembled heavy machinery. Blood-Wraith was amazed by all of this. Seeing the guild hall materialize before his very eyes helped to alleviate a lot of the worries he held.

Near the entrance stood a tall man in black and gold magician’s robes. He had white hair, sharp red-eyes, and a firm jawline. He looked older, but it was easy to tell he was still full of vigor. “Ermenrich! Back so soon?” He welcomed as the trio approached him.

“Tiberius!” Drusa said as she picked him up with a hug and swung him around. “Good to see you again!”

“Drusa, haha, didn’t think I’d see you again.”

“Well it was a little tricky tracking down Rich because of how screwy The Unlight is, but I was patient… and the shindig with The Lich also helped.”

Tiberius chuckled. “Indeed, indeed.” He then shook Vexation’s hand. “I trust this here is Sir Raynot himself?”

    “Yes, sir!” Blood-Wraith replied.

“Then it is a pleasure and an honor to meet you.” Tiberius got down and gave him a hug. “Sorry you had to deal with Eustorgio’s antics. I would have lent a hand had I not been lost in the Trench Unlight. I was caught between a reverse star and a planet of metal that disoriented my sense of direction. Thankfully two kind Ar’ton named Terrus and Bronislav helped me out.”

“Oh wow… well don’t worry, me and my friends had everything under control…”

“Not accounting for my original plans, The Great Unspeaker changing things up, and Vlastimir showing up, '' Vexation pointed out.

Blood-Wraith smiled and nodded. “Well, mostly under control.”

“Fair enough,” Tiberius replied. “Since when do things ever go according to plan? As annoying as it is, the Cosmos would be incredibly dull if we did not have that dash of randomness every now and then. Anyways, The foyer and main lobby are done. Would you like to see inside, Blood-Wraith?”

“Sure. And you can just call me ‘Blood.’”

What was finished of the interior was promising. The floors were cobblestone and the beautiful walls used very fine timber. The main lobby had what looked like a stage with a podium at the far end and some tables had already been set up. Several hallways had also been started, but they did not lead to anything meaningful or completed yet. What had been built gave Blood-Wraith a warm and cozy feeling as the magical flames gently crackled in their sconces. As the group was shown around, two mages could be seen at a table, playing chess. One had brown hair and wore a glowing bodysuit while the other had blonde hair and wore black robes.

“And… checkmate” the blonde haired mage said.

“Argh! You do that exact play every time…” the brown haired mage complained.

Tiberius laughed. “Then stop falling for it, Barry.”

Barry sighed, letting off a gentle hum of electricity. “And this is why I stick to music…” the others chuckled.

Tiberius cleared his throat. “Barry, Cronus, this here is Sir Blood-Wraith Raynot.”

Barry let off another hum. “Hello, Blood-Wraith! Nice to meet you” he said as he enthusiastically shook his hand.

“Haha, you too…” in truth, he was sort of reminding Blood-Wraith of Vlastimir.

Next was Cronus, who also shook his hand. “Hello, Blood-Wraith. It’s an honor to meet you. You’ve made quite the stir in my neck of the woods.”

Cronus sounded nice and gentle and his handsome features indicated a trustworthy leader, but Blood-Wraith could sense that there was great turmoil inside of him. “I have? How so?”

“He’s from universe-23,” Drusa pointed out, then cleared her throat.

Everyone could see Cronus go pale. “Honorable Spiritus Magni!” he said with a proper bow.

Drusa put him into a headlock and began to noogie his head. “Don’t think that I have forgotten that you flew the coup on your kids, you little stinker…”

“Goodness, I hope they didn’t cause too much trouble, agh!”

She then let go, ruffling his hair before he could fix it. “You’re lucky that wasn’t our first rodeo. Athena, Aphrodite, and Hestia were able to sneak into Olympus and keep the Olympians in line, for the most part. Good lord, Zeus, Hera, and Demeter are royal pains in the rear… Vita is definitely going to have some things to say if she ever catches sight of you.”

Blood-Wraith quickly realized the guild was going to be a wild ride. It was probably best that he did not think about it at the moment. “Out of curiosity, what can you two do?”

Barry held his hands up and made electricity arc between them. “I’m an elektromancer. It’s like pyromancy, but with electricity!”

“Whoa, neat. My friend, Desislav, can do similar with the armor he got from the Crimson Mega Abyss… Dang it! Vex, we should have brought Desislav along.”

Vexation stroked his chin and gave a quick chuckle. “Shoot, you’re right. Oh well, there’ll be other opportunities.”

“Is there something important about him?” Cronus wondered.

Blood-Wraith nodded. “Yeah, he recently achieved ULTRAMagic and he’s going to be our cook. His food is really good.”

“Wonderful,” Tiberius replied. “I’ll have to lend him a hand as I fancied myself a decent chef back in the Epoch. We’ll update the roster and make accommodations for him.”

“So, Cronus, what can you do?” Blood-Wraith inquired.

“Well I'm a skilled alchemist and versed in void magic, but how about I show you instead of just telling you?”

This was fine with Blood-Wraith. Once the whole group was outside and a safe distance from the guild hall, they began showing off what they could do. Barry zipped around as electricity, followed by Cronus creating all sorts of amazing constructs through transmutation. Even Tiberius showed off some of his spells from his legendary grimoire. Blood-Wraith was impressed by all of this and felt the urge to show off his abilities too. While this was going on, someone snuck up behind Drusa. The person in question was strange looking, being tall and lean in a skeletal-kind of way. Of course, Drusa already knew who it was.

    “Hey, Auntie Drusa.”

“Mal!” Drusa gave her a big hug. “Oh my goodness, you haven’t changed a bit!”

“There you are, Mal,” Vexation said as she also gave him a hug. “I was wondering where you were.”

“Sorry about that, Uncle Rich. I had to check on something.”

“Perfect timing too, because Blood-Wraith is…” The conversation was interrupted by Blood-Wraith roaring in his dragon form.

Mal’s heart skipped a beat, looking like she had seen a ghost. “Is that Leif!?”

Drusa calmed her with a rub on the back. She was concerned for Mal and how she would react, hoping everything would be okay. “Oh no, that’s Blood-Wraith, Leif’s successor.”

Vex started to put his fingers in his mouth. “Give me one second…” He whistled fairly loudly, enough for the dragon to notice. “Hey, Blood, Mal’s here!”

The dragon looked over to them. “Oh, cool!” Blood-Wraith then returned to normal and walked over. He was a bit intimidated by Mal’s height (who was around seven foot tall), but he held out his hand without hesitation. “Nice to meet you, Mal.”

She studied him as they shook hands, which turned into her giving him a hug. Mal could feel Leif’s soul fragment within Blood-Wraith’s soul. “How well can you fly, Blood?”

“Pretty well, I’d say. Gliding goes against my instinct to flap, but otherwise things are good.”

“Alright. I know this is sudden, but can we go for a quick flight?”

“Oh, um, sure. Any reason in particular?”

Tiberius smiled and chuckled. “Mal and Leif used to go on adventures often back in the days of the Epoch.”

Mal nodded. “It would mean the world to me if you could go on a quick trip with me, Blood-Wraith.”

“Oh, alright then, fine with me…” Blood-Wraith quickly returned to his dragon form. “Hop on, Mal.”

“Don’t worry, Blood, we’ll stay here until you two get back” Vexation assured as Mal climbed up on Blood-Wraith’s back.

With a good flap of his wings, the two were off. Mal stayed silent for a moment, taking in the nostalgia. The rushing air felt good and it was a thrill to see the ground far below her once again. “Thank you, Blood-Wraith, for doing this for me. It’s been so long since I last flew like this.”

“No problem. I’ve been meaning to get out and stretch my wings. Anywhere you want to go?”

Mal looked around, her eyes glowing with a unique power that seemed like she was scanning the horizon with a pair of binoculars. “Ooh! That moon, the Silver Eye Moon. Leif and I loved going there.”

Blood-Wraith gave another mighty wingbeat and soared towards the moon in question. “Oh cool, right above The Iron City too!”

Landing on the moon was quite the sight. It was a gorgeous landscape of sterling metal that resembled the most brilliant silver. Once Blood-Wraith was out of his dragon form, the two began walking across the dusty landscape, with Mal leading him towards what looked like the remains of a fire pit. It was surrounded by five stones that appeared to be seats. Mal smiled as she sat down and encouraged Blood-Wraith to follow suit. It was interesting as he could feel the past all around them as some of Leif’s memories entered his mind.

“So what do you think?” she asked.

“It’s great. Really feels like we should camp out here sometime.”

There was a chest nearby, which Mal checked. “Aw, empty. We used to keep stuff for campfires here. We had smores, simple dinners-it was a lot of fun.”

Blood-Wraith smiled. “Well hey, no reason why we can’t do that now. We could even bring Drago, Desislav, and Tusk along, if that’s okay with you.”

“Of course. Leif told me all about them the last time we saw each other.”

    “Oh yeah…”

There was a pause as the two looked up at the stars. “How was Leif in his final moments?”

A tear nearly rolled down Blood-Wraith’s cheek, but he held it back. “He was at peace. Imagine being enveloped in warmth, like a soft, fluffy blanket. That’s what it felt like. I didn’t want him to leave, but right before he left, he said he’d be back. I may not have known him for long, but he was such a cool and great person.”

“Thank you for seeing him off, Blood.”

“You know about that?” She nodded. “Ha, of course you would. Despite the trouble with the Lich, it was fun traveling around with him.”

“I couldn’t agree with you more. Oh, speaking of exploring and traveling, I’m a big fan of your sister’s work. When I move back into the tower, can I meet her?”

“Drago? Sure… wait, is she why you took Vex and the others on that adventure he mentioned the other day?”

Mal giggled. “Partially. I thought it’d be fun to do. I’ve been doing that a lot recently. It’s a little scary without Leif, but he always said that one day I’d have to go it alone. It kind of took me by surprise when it finally happened. Venturing out into the unknown is terrifying, but also exhilarating.”

Blood-Wraith laughed. “You should’ve seen me right before we made it to the Dark Grand Desert. I actually broke down crying to my cousin, Darkness…”

“There’s nothing wrong with crying every now and then. That’s how I met Leif after all.” There was a pause, followed by both of them laughing.

“Jeez, all of this before my first birthday…”

Mal looked at him in surprise. “Wait, you’re a baby?”

“Um, technically? I mean, I like to think I’m fairly mature for my age…”

“Aw, you poor thing!” She said as she hugged him. “Don’t worry, I’ll move back into the tower as soon as we get back… you have parents, right?”

“Yeah, Rose and Radovan adopted me.”

Mal set him down and breathed a sigh of relief. “Good, because I don’t think I’m fit to be a mother just yet. So did you cry when you were born?”

“No, I was just incredibly confused. Imagine not existing one minute and then existing the next. If I remember correctly, a voice said I was ready and wished me luck. Honestly It sounded like my friend, Aureolus, prior to him coming into existence… jeez, that was probably right before Milosh yanked him into being.”

“Can I meet him too? Aureolus, I mean.”

“Yup, just as soon as he returns from Shadowland. He’s helping Barna and Dunja deal with that creep I just mentioned.”

Mal shuddered. “Ooh, I hate that villain! I hope they give him a good what-for!”

Blood-Wraith laughed once more. “I am worried for them, but I have a good feeling about it now. Don’t tell anyone I told you this, but let’s just say Milosh has some traitors in his midst.” He then got up and stretched as Mal gave a mischievous chuckle. “Anyways, want to head back? Drago showed me this cool television series called Schoolyard Alchemy and it’s really funny…”

    “Ooh, sounds fun. Let’s go!”
