Vapor 6 and Iteration Generation Loss
Most individuals in the Cosmos are not aware of what goes on behind the scenes. Iterations are one of these many things that go unnoticed. When a universe goes through expansion and contraction, it leaves behind an iteration in the flow of time. Past iterations of a universe are a fascinating subject as there is potential for residents of these iterations to interact with the current iteration of that universe. It opens a fascinating window into the past that can teach all sorts of fascinating insights and knowledge.
Two fields of study in regards to Iterations are Iteration 0 and Iteration Generation Loss (IGL). Iteration 0 is a universal iteration that acts as a framework for the very concept of iterations while IGL denotes the distortion iterations face when they go too far back into the past. Learning about these would do the common man little good, but there are a dedicated few who wish to know how far reality goes. The Dark Divers Guild stationed in the Dark Void are one such collection of explorers dedicated to studying things like this.

Vapor 6 and Iteration 0
Vapor 6 is an entity from iteration 0, specifically the portion connected to Universe-23. What is iteration 0? Iteration 0 is the idea that iterations of a universe can exist in the first place. It is the framework for this concept and is very similar to 0D, which is the framework for dimensions. Furthermore, entities from Iteration 0 are typically 0 dimensional themselves.
Iteration 0 entities are not supposed to exist in the Cosmos proper under normal circumstances. If one from this realm is diligent enough, they can make it through the Dark Void or The Unlight to the Cosmos proper. Vapor 6 was one the dedicated few that made the journey out of his home, albeit by accident. He was found by Sirius Fractal, a scientist for the Anomaly Containment Foundation. The ACF was very interested in Vapor 6 and began working with him to document the Dark Void.
While exploring the Dark Void, Vapor 6 would meet The Automaton of Old, who would invite him to join The Dark Divers Guild. Stationed in the Dark Void, this guild of strange and abstract entities is dedicated to studying the limits of reality. They want to know how far it can truly go. In the pursuit of knowledge, they discovered a bizarre phenomenon known as Iteration Generation Loss.
What is IGL?

Stationed in the Dark Void, this guild of strange and abstract entities is dedicated to studying the limits of reality. They want to know how far it can truly go. In the pursuit of knowledge, they discovered a bizarre phenomenon known as Iteration Generation Loss.
What is IGL?
Iteration Generation Loss (IGL for short) is a phenomenon where past iterations of universes begin to distort as time goes on. It is similar to the concept of analog generation loss. These realms and the entities that inhabit them become fundamentally altered, leading to bizarre interactions with the modern Cosmos.
The Flow of Time keeps track of a lot of things, but eventually it has to move on. This causes it to eventually lose track of past iterations of universes. Once they go past 10 iterations, things begin to distort, as reality and the Flow of TIme are no longer keeping things in line. This gets worse the further back one goes. IGL cannot be prevented, but it can be mitigated and even reversed (under the right circumstances). Entities from these iterations can even grant their iteration more time by entering realms like The Unlight or the Cosmos proper.
0D and 1D entities are in high demand for research into IGL. They seem to be immune to the effects of IGL, allowing them to go into these universes mostly unaffected. 0D entities are the best in this case as they are not constrained by reality like the majority of other entities are. It should be noted that despite a lot of 0D entities coming from the reincarnation of the legion primordial The Nightmare of Old, this is not the only source of 0D entities.
What is IGL like?
There are several classifications of IGL that denote the level of distortion. They receive a name and a numerical level to indicate what their properties are. Entities can also receive these classifications based on what kind of IGL universe they come from. It is difficult at times to quantify IGL, but there are behaviors and characteristics that typically pop up in groups of these universes. The classifications are as follows:
Light (10 - 50 iterations) (Level 1)
Medium (51 - 100 iterations) (Level 2)
Heavy (101 - 1,000 iterations) (Level 3)
Light, Medium, and Heavy are all considered basic levels of IGL. Anyone can explore these without much trouble. Basic discipline and knowledge of IGL is still required, but these IGL zones are perfectly manageable by even novice explorers.
Ultra (1,001 - 10,000 iterations) (Level 4)
Mega (10,001 - 100,000 iterations) (Level 5)
Dangerous (100,001 - 1,000,000) (Level 6)
Ultra, Mega, and Dangerous are the advanced levels of IGL and are widely considered to be the apex of the phenomenon. Despite this, it can get worse. The concept of infinity allows there to be an infinite amount of iterations.
Impossible is used to describe any IGL zone at level 7 and beyond. Level 7 is the only classification in this group, but it is more than possible that the scale goes even further. When such a discovery is made and confirmed, it will receive the “Beyond (100,000,001 - 1,000,000,000 iterations) (Level 8)” classification. A hypothetical level 9 is believed to be at approximately 1,000,000,001 - 1,000,000,000,000 iterations (assuming it does not stop at 100,000,000,000, which could lead to level 10).
Impossible level classifications are considered forbidden to traverse, with only the highest ranking members of the Dark Divers guild daring to venture into these unknowable iterations. There are a plentiful amount of horror stories from novices who thought they could traverse these universes. The high ranking guild members may bring along low ranking members on these expeditions, but only if they know the universe in question.
Hyper (1,000,000 + Iterations) (Level 7)
Naturally the Dark Divers have been theorizing about certain concepts and ideas relating to IGL. While it is tempting to call these ideas pseudoscience, some truly strange entities have appeared in the Dark Void. They give greater credence to these ideas and have prompted the guild to really consider how far reality can go. Some of these are as follows:
How does one get to IGL zones?
There are many ways to get them, but it varies based on where one wants to get to. Theoretically any IGL universe can be reached with any of the following methods. It is just that these are the most guaranteed methods.
What is the Dark Void?
The Dark Void is a bizarre realm that exists in the shadow of the Cosmos. When God created the Cosmos, the disparity between it and the void caused a mirror image of the Cosmos to form. For a while this realm was connected to the Cosmos, but it was separated due to the danger it posed to Man. It can still be accessed from the Unlight and Reality Errors. Many compare the Dark Void to The Unlight, saying it is a rational version of that realm. It has a structure like the Cosmos proper, but doesn’t obey the rules like The Unlight.
For some reason relating to the Dark Void being isolated from the Cosmos, it can access IGL zones like they were its own. The current idea is that iterations of universes need something to latch onto. They are normally drawn to the Cosmos, but are prevented from attaching to it due to losing grasp of the Flow of Time. With nowhere else to go, they attach to the Dark Void.
One of the primary dangers of the Dark Void is the presence of IGL realms and their entities. For the sake of Man, these anomalies should not be allowed to enter the Cosmos proper under regular circumstances. Aside from these IGL irregularities, the Dark Void resembles the Cosmos in every possible way. The best way to describe it is that things are slightly off, like it wanted to do its own thing.
An interesting quirk of being connected to The Unlight is that the Dark Void has its own Reality Errors. These are standard Reality Errors with aspects of the Dark Void (nicknamed “Dark Reality Errors”). If one knows how to traverse Reality Errors, traversing these are not much different. Furthermore, they are the most reliable way to get to the Dark Void from The Unlight.
The Dark Divers Guild
This guild was founded by The Automaton of Old not too long after he joined The Madman of Old on his quest to keep the Cosmos safe and functioning. The Automaton discovered the Dark Void while on a mission with The Madman. They were in a diplomatic meeting with The Distortion God when The Automaton noticed the strange realm. Utterly fascinated by it, The Madman encouraged his apprentice to go explore it. The Madman would have loved to help him, but he was too busy making sure the Cosmos remained functional.
The Automaton figured a guild would be the best place to start. He rounded up anyone he thought would be interested in exploring the Dark Void. Everyone is welcome to join the guild, but typically they look for Omni-dimensionals, 0 dimensionals, and 1 dimensionals. The guild has a decent amount of IGL entities in addition to Dark Void residents and receives help from The ULTRAMagic Guild from time to time. All in all, the guild are welcoming thrill seekers dedicated to finding out how far the Cosmos can go and this curiosity is what they look for in new recruits.
Vapor 6 is a bit interesting in that his interactions have brought Universe-23 closer to the Dark Void. The Automaton is concerned about this and is worried about the ACF biting off more they can chew. He is fully aware of the Universe-X090X incident after all. Fortunately ULTRAMagic Ultimatum (who was involved in the aforementioned incident) is keeping an eye on the ACF of Universe-23 and has assured The Automaton nothing bad will happen under his watch.
Vapor 6 and his membership with the Dark Divers
Vapor 6, as mentioned before, is connected to Universe-23. He is a devil just like the ones that appear in that universe. Specifically, he is a Cyber devil. This means he has inherent elektromancy and is able to easily traverse cyberspace. He has naturally run into Barry Esko Boyle (an elektromancer apart of The ULTRAMagic Guild) on numerous occasions, leading Barry to form a partnership with him.
Our cyber devil would end up leaving his home realm in iteration 0 after getting chased out by overly aggressive demon hunters. Funnily enough they were wiped out a couple of years after he left. Vapor 6 has always been a curious individual, wondering what iteration 0 is. Many in his home realm cannot accept the existence of iteration 0, so they never acknowledge it. With many refusing to answer his basic questions, Vapor 6 began looking for greener pastures.
The Automaton had heard of Vapor 6 and sought him out the minute he showed up in the Dark Void. Vapor 6 was the kind of Devil that thought outside the box and that was just what The Automaton was looking for. With nowhere else to go and the promise of answers, Vapor 6 joined the Dark Divers guild. On a side note, Vapor 6 does occasionally return to iteration 0 to check on his home realm.
It should be noted that Vapor 6 is indifferent to the squabbles of humans. He legitimately does not care about their quarrels as he is more concerned with learning about the Cosmos itself. Many in the Cosmos proper cannot answer his questions, so he avoids going there. On the contrary, people outside the Cosmos proper will usually try to answer his questions (if not, they will do their best to help him). The Dark Void also has everything he is looking for, so there is also that.
Personality-wise, Vapor 6 is calm, yet energetic. He is focused, but also fairly active. His nervous side died when he left his home as he could finally relax. All he ever wanted to do was study and learn, not fight for equality and the right to exist (these things should be there by default in his eyes). Despite his indifference to humans, he will talk to you if need be… until you insult him. As an aside, he is currently working on a book documenting his finds, discoveries, and thoughts on the Cosmos.
The Nuances of IGL zones
Returning to IGL, there is a great deal of nuance to this concept. A fact that blows most people's minds is that IGL space is vastly bigger than the sphere of Man, as it encompasses an uncountable amount of universes and potentially multiverses. Universe clusters can form in IGL space if these universes come into contact with each other. And if everything goes right, these clusters can rejoin the Cosmos proper, despite their distortion.
An interesting quirk of the Dark Void is that the Eldritch Barrier does not seem to exist like it does in the Cosmos proper. The Eldritch Barrier is the idea that the alternate universes are difficult to reach because one is not normally supposed to reach them. Most of Man is immature and insecure, and would rather attack what they do not understand. Chief Sigmund and Chief Magnus of The Unending Forest in The Unlight once observed a bloody battle of alternate universe counterparts that could not come to grips with each other's counterparts. Entities within the Dark Void and IGL space do not seem to have this pettiness, and a good amount actively seek their counterparts.
Some IGL universes will actually stop distorting if someone from a current iteration universe settles in them. This helps to bring these universes back into the proper Flow of Time. There is no actual limit to the amount of universes that can exist in the Flow of TIme after all. Assuming things do not go south, even the most distorted IGL universe can be habitable. Despite all of this, most stabilized IGL universes stay in the Dark Void. Many IGL entities prefer the Dark Void over the Cosmos proper.

- Dangerous (100,001 - 1,000,000) (Level 6)
- Hyper (1,000,000 + Iterations) (Level 7)
- These are the most recognizable, with only minor distortions. They are the easiest to salvage.
- Distortions range from bizarre timelines to unique life/entities.
- Light IGL zones are safe to traverse, being not much different from modern universes.
Medium (51 - 100 iterations) (Level 2)
- Distortion begins to increase, but things are still recognizable. These are easy to salvage.
- Unique celestial bodies can pop up, with equally strange environments.
- Medium IGL zones can be traversed, but have noticeable obstacles to overcome.
Heavy (101 - 1,000 iterations) (Level 3)
- Distortion is front and center, but things are still vaguely recognizable.
- The environment of the universe itself starts to distort, creating radically different realms from what most are used to.
- While tricky, these can be salvaged.
- These are difficult to traverse, requiring expertise so as not to get hurt.
- Distortion is heavy, requiring intense knowledge of the iteration to make out its basic concepts and physics.
- Unique timelines (referred to as Aberrant Timelines) begin to emerge in these universes. They are distinctly different from what is supposed to exist.
- These are difficult to both salvage and traverse.
Mega (10,001 - 100,000 iterations) (Level 5)
- Distortion becomes extreme, creating radically different universes from what is expected.
- These universes start to have different physics and Aberrant Timelines become more pronounced with even more unique outcomes.
- These are incredibly difficult to salvage.
- Traversing these are incredibly difficult, but not the hardest for this group of classification.
Dangerous (100,001 - 1,000,000) (Level 6)
- Distortion has reached a peak, with little semblance of order and structure, leading to universes on the edge of comprehension.
- Unique physics, intense Aberrant Timelines, and disparate realms become commonplace.
- These are borderline impossible to salvage.
- Traversing these should only be done by the most experienced members of the Dark Divers guild.
Impossible is used to describe any IGL zone at level 7 and beyond. Level 7 is the only classification in this group, but it is more than possible that the scale goes even further. Hyper (1,000,000 + Iterations) (Level 7)
- Distortion is beyond comprehension, with some universes being nothing more than entropy given shape.
- Everything mentioned previously is dialed up to the extreme, challenging the perception of even entities 10D and higher.
- As far as groups like the Time Watchers are concerned, these universes are impossible to salvage.
- Traversing these are borderline impossible unless one gets lucky.
- Iteration Googol and Googolplex.
- Iteration g64
- Iteration Tree-3
- Iteration Rayo’s Number
- IGL Multiverses, Megaverses, and Ultraverses (if they exist)

Notable Universes and Entities
Universe-23 Iteration 42
- This is notable for the Earth of this iteration being well versed in virtual particle science. VPS is fairly uncommon and this universe took it to the extreme, creating entire entities from the virtual realm.
- VPH-006 is a human born from the virtual realm that has the ability to morph into a super powered entity. He would eventually be found by the Dark Divers and would join the guild.
- This version of the universe is a living being who failed to persist to future iterations.
- It currently lives in the Dark Void proper, happily going through continual big bang cycles.
Universe-17 Iteration 512
- This universe resembles the Night Realm if it had formed as a regular universe. It possesses unique resources not found in the Cosmos proper.
- Many sentient entities in this universe have the ability to merge with the universe and reemerge as a different entity in a manner unheard of in the Cosmos proper.
Universe-X090X Iteration 4,212,556
- This was one of the first level 7 IGL universes discovered.
- The entire universe resembles a fractal image and is full of outerversal entities that are difficult to communicate with.
- Whatever this iteration originally was is incredibly unclear, even to someone like Ultimatum.
- This is the oldest level 7 IGL universe discovered so far. It is completely alien to anyone in the Cosmos proper, operating on radically different physics.
- Entities seem to exist backwards in time, yet do not progress backwards. To us, they would appear as going backwards, yet moving forward in time.
- One entity from this universe, The Son of Entropy, left it to join the Dark Divers guild. Taking the name of Allan Quinn, he got tired of existing backwards and was aware that his universe was distorted.
- Allan has been pivotal in understanding level 7 IGL zones.
Universe-56,332 Iteration 546,622,344
- This is widely considered one of the most cursed IGL universes because everything exists sideways in time.
- Causality is not a thing in this universe, outcomes precede their causes, causes never reach an outcome, time dilation is all over the place, and quantum anomalies are everywhere.
- Cynfelyn Taliesin Sayer escaped when the madness of this universe turned him from a young boy to an 86 year old master alchemist. He returned to being a 10 year old boy after entering the Dark Void, keeping the experiences that did and did not happen.
- Cynfelyn refuses to go into IGL zones, so he was deployed to The Unlight as a representative for the Dark Divers in The ULTRAMagic Guild. As an aside, The ULTRAMagic Guild is happy to have him as he is a fine young alchemist dedicated to his studies.
- This iteration of Universe 56,332 is one of the many poster children as to why level 7 IGL is considered so dangerous. Cynfelyn also has no plans of ever going back.
Universe-0X Iteration 423,546
- This is the universe where Milosh Proch became The Machine God. In fact, The Machine God Milosh-0X met is this version of him. The Machine God would start to regain his memories after this meeting and would later apologize for the machine revolt on Earth-0X.
- This iteration saw its universe become a machine and the distortion kicked things into overdrive. All of existence was optimized, even the big bang cycle.
- Realizing his screw up, The Machine God desperately looked for a way out. Eventually he discovered a way to escape into an Overflow Realm, removing himself from the universe and saving him from the great optimization.
- The idea that The Madman sealed him away is a cover story so no one seeks out this universe. The Machine God is haunted by his past and uses his current story as a way to hide from what he’s done. He has resolved to never make that mistake again.
Universe-923 Iteration 76,892
- This is a universe where the concepts of “Red” and “6” have switched places.
- There is the “number red” and the “color 6.”
Universe-0Z Iteration 4,026
- This is a universe where time can crystalize and be transmuted to give people more time. This has led to the development of Chrono-Alchemy, allowing people to create their own causes and outcomes.
- A brother Weaver Craddock had in this universe, Dathun Craddock, escaped after realizing what had happened to his universe. The Unlight Craddocks were weirded out when Dathun popped up out of nowhere.
Universe-LX049-Z Iteration 8,432,997
- This universe saw itself turn inside out. Time stayed in tact, but everything else inverted.
- It has to be seen to be believed. It can be described, but it is better to witness it.
- This universe is difficult to enter given that everything (including physics) is inverted.
Lord Sander Filippus Kikkert
- Lord Sander claims he is from universe-23 Iteration 4 quintillion. He is the reason for the belief that there are levels beyond 7. His origin is not confirmed yet, but is highly likely.
- Lord Sander is in charge of exploration of level 7 and beyond. He just showed up one day offering his services and expertise to the Dark Divers guild.
- This iteration is radically different from the modern universe-23. Lord Sander hails from Zeck-Dandir, born in the city of Fleckdirdir. Even Earth was named differently, being called Isterdister. Despite all of this, events on this version of Earth loosely follow modern universe-23.
- As for the current state of this iteration, it is currently rotating at speeds that make time meaningless.
- Lord Sander is a cheery, quirky chap and a sensible leader. He’s a man of science, God, and refinement. Lord Sander will usually have a solution to your problem and if not, he will find one. He believes in you and wants to see you succeed.
Universe-49X056 Iteration 323,999,887
- This is a timeline that started out as a completely normal universe. It had distorted into a timeline about temporal-hazardous dragons worshiping The God of Reverse Chaos, who plans to undo a bout of entropy brought on by a species who tried to stop the heat death of the universe.
- There is no precedent for the aberrant timeline. It popped up because of the intense IGL distortion.
- The Madman of Old fears that The God of Reverse Chaos may be related to the Reverse Serpent sealed away in the micro Cosmos of the Requiem video game series. He is keeping an eye on this IGL universe for the foreseeable future.
Universe 826 Iteration 956,212
- This is a universe where the majority of intelligent species fly backwards-yet-forwards in time into the center of the universe. They do this to become outerversal entities that eventually regress into children that grow into mighty warriors. These individuals then go on to challenge The Metal God for the right to become alchemists.
- The Metal God somehow got stuck in this predicament and has been trying to figure out a way to fix this universe so he does not have to fight the warriors anymore. He is getting tired of it.
- The Metal God was sealed away by The Madman of Old, but everyone agrees that he has served his time.
