ULTRAMagic Babel - Chapter 14

Previous | First | Next Master Post - Patreon      In the depths of the void of the Cosmos, far beyond the reach of any sane voyage lay a hidden realm amongst a graveyard of failed universes. This realm of blood red wastelands, rusted metal forests, and screaming stars was the home of Karnage Dethgrave’s tower, and the base of operations for The Eternal Order. Standing at the top of the brutal, sight-rending tower was Karnage himself, waiting for something. He was discontent as his blood red eyes scanned the horizon, the wind blowing his long, pitch black hair around. There was a sneaking suspicion he was going to be angered that day. Not helping his mood was a giant planet approaching his realm… but he quickly realized he could have a little fun with it.      The planet was a grotesque, unholy aberration with a bulging eyeball and a creepy mouth licking its chops. Clearly it wanted to eat Karnage’s realm and was salivating at the prospect of such a de...

ULTRAMagic Babel - Chapter 13

Previous | First | Next Master Post - Patreon      Buster gazed out at the seemingly endless waters of The Great Stone Lake from the Sublimatio Apex Balcony while Odo finalized his spell that would send the younger brother away to safety. The clouds and mist had vanished, allowing for a truly breathtaking sight as sunlight glistened off of the calm waves. Something that weighed on Buster’s mind was the question of what would happen next. Truthfully he was hoping everything would just fix itself right then and there and he would not have to go into hiding. He then conceded to himself that such wishes were naive. It would have also invalidated everything they had just gone through. All of it was a conundrum for Buster as the gentle lake breeze caressed his face.      “It’s strange how close The Unlight can feel to Earth at times,” Waramunt said as he stepped over to the stone railing. “And as progress continues to march on back home, tainting its beauty,...

ULTRAMagic Babel - Chapter 12

Previous | First | Next Master Post - Patreon      That night’s dinner in the luxurious, Victorian-Greek dining hall felt like a true victory lap for the group. While it was true that Gudrun had gotten away, Valdemaras had failed spectacularly, with Lia and Buster happily enjoying their scrumptious food. And if The Vermilion King was to be believed, everything was going according to plan. Ozymandias and Tereza were simply upbeat in every possible regard, recalling their past adventures (that did not involve them enabling The Sepulcher God). It was surprising to see Ozymandias so jovial despite the slaying of The Vulture God a couple of days prior. And of course The Vermilion King also had his fair share of stories to tell. Truthfully Lia, Buster, and Odo were hoping the night would last forever, as it was vastly preferable to the conflicts that waited far outside the tower.      The next day saw the group at Ozymandias’ living space so he could tell th...

ULTRAMagic Babel - Chapter 11

Previous | First | Next Master Post - Patreon      “So, kid, what did you think of your first major mission?” Tusk asked as he tapped Yoshihiro’s arm. The group was waiting in a Victorian-styled parlor while that night’s dinner was being prepared.      Yoshihiro sighed and slouched a little on the sofa. “That was something else and I never want to do it again…”      “Well, until we get rid of The Eternal Order you’re going to have to keep grinning and bearing it.”      “I know… You know? It’s kind of surreal to know you guys were off hunting The Lich of Old back when I saw Blood and Drago at the Lake Outskirts all those years ago…”      “Er, not quite, as that was right before they met Leif. To be fair, I did sense Blood pop into existence and probably would’ve gone to meet him had the forest been near The Iron City…”      “You’re sure about that?” Serjiel questioned with a subtle, cheeky ...

ULTRAMagic Babel - Chapter 10

Previous | First | Next Master Post - Patreon      Buster quickly ran over to one of the great, ornate turbines within the chamber, trying to get a feel for how it worked and what they were dealing with. The blades were spinning, but it was not enough to power the machine in the center of the chamber. “Shoot, and I bet the wind’s about to pick up too…”      “Right you are, but The Unlight’s weather is certainly fickle,” Iudris pointed out. “Radboud, the turbines will work if the wind we produce is consistent enough. Prepare your best spell and cast it on my mark…”      “Here we go…” he said as he began to focus.      Lia went to shut the doors of the chamber, but Cornelius stopped her. “Wait, don’t!”      “What? Why? What if Valdemaras sees us?”      “Possible, but he may become just as suspicious if he sees the doors close.”      Buster nodded, taking a look down the hall....

ULTRAMagic Babel - Chapter 9

Previous | First | Next Master Post - Patreon      The coast seemed clear in the hallways leading up to the Sublimatio Library, but the group knew better than to make such assumptions given all of the chaos they had been through. Thankfully Waramunt was there to greet them, but something was off. Ensio was not with him and he was speaking oddly. He had awkward inflections, put emphasis on the wrong words, and he would not stop speaking informally. Lia had a good idea as to what was going on and these suspicions were confirmed when he gave a subtle salute to Lia that was used by members of The Eternal Church. With a flick of her wrist, Lia chopped off the head of the imposter with a clean swipe. Everyone else was frozen in shock, trying to process what had just happened.      “LIA, EXPLAIN!?” Adriana ordered, still trying to rationalize what she had just seen.      “That was a shadow construct, Captain,” Lia answered as the head rolled t...
